Lebron is 41 and still dunking eye level with the rim. That's crazy

Use your common sense if you think Jeanie is involved in basketball decisions now especially considering she never was in the past other than money part. Why are you hung up on all the HR aspects of it?

 …. do you think Walter might not know how to do all this?

Giannis is 31, Reaves is 27 and Luka is 26.

AD arrived to the Lakers at 26 and left at 30… There’s a big, big difference.

No..if Jeanie waa never involved, then she simply allowed Rob to do whatever, and he gets to luxury of blaming her for stuff, in the process. So until I see Rob reporting to someone new, I'm skeptical. If Walter is this dude everyone says, I just can't see Rob being the GM /Team President moving forward.

I mean Walter isn't new to the Lakers, he's been a part owner for years, been trying to buy the team for years. I just thought he'd have installed a " VP of Something " by now overseeing things. Rob is still the President/GM and Defacto Head of the Scouting Department, as we speak. I'm sorry this concerns me.

    Hear me out.

    - They have a surplus of picks with three in 2027 and three in 2029.

    - The lowest of those three picks is very likely to be the Knicks 1sts, which would very likely be in the 25-30 range. Knicks are a contender, and may be in the NBA finals as soon as this season. So those picks are basically expensive low 2nd round picks.

-They "only" have two 2031 picks, and would be able to kick the can down the road, in terms of their roster spots, trades, etc. By them some time from making some decisions.

-The Lakers unprotected 2031 pick is 5.5 years from now, so a lot could happen between now and then. Giannis would be around 35-36, Luka 31,and Reaves 32.

    - It's a gamble, but a calculated gamble for them. They could end up with a lottery pick that year versus two picks that are like #25 and #27.

Lakers could ad swaps if need be.

The guy in the previous posts numbers were off then. I didn't look up their ages, I simply responded.

The Last part, Giannis is still superior to everyone you mentioned today IMO. That's because he's still capable, of being elite on both ends in the playoffs. That hits different to me.

Chasing Gianni’s will screw our ability to build around Luka and Austin. What if the Bucks choose a different package? Then we are screwed, and piss off Luka.
    It’s not worth it.

I’m just talking about what’s going on now and until Mark brings his own hire in to replace Pelinka. Whether this summer, next year or LOL horror of horrors to all his haters keeps him on and just gets him help. Not likely. Am sure Mark “knows” and lurks here too. :D ;)

reiterate that i'm weird but would prefer dalen terry to highsmith. would prefer either to klay (we already got kennard, and they're basically the same guy at this point) or other vets speculated about.

Klay would be one of the better two way players on our squad right away. Defensively he is holding his own against 3’s and smaller 4’s. He gets blown by, by PG’s and fast SG’s. He still tries hard and plays team defense.

As for offensively, he gets off 8 shots in 20 mins from 3 and can hit at 40%. Since the start of the year he is 50/120 from 3 in 16 games.

Sign me up for the minimum with Luka, Reaves and Lebron creating.

    Luka / Smart
    Reaves / Kennard
    LaRavia / Klay / Vando
    Lebron / Rui
    Ayton / Hayes / Kleber

We at least have some offense during the regular season to stay healthy to the playoffs. If we can play hard on D at key moments, we’ll overwhelm a lot of teams.

Been watching Dalen Terry since he was at Arizona. He will be out of the NBA soon.

yeah, i don't think we need yet another guy that can't keep anyone in front of them.

moot point, as it doesn't appear dallas is likely to waive him anyway?

me too, which is why i think he'll not be. his three has improved, and he can defend basically 1-3. he's not as athletic as djj, but he's a similar player, imo. needs the right situation, and chicago wasn't it. maybe we don't have the room right now, either, though.

those defense stats are getting ridiculous here

Vucevic in his first game scored 12 points 11 rebounds but we prefer to play Maxi with 2 points on average

The way I see it, it's over for the Lakers to get better defensively. They simply don't have the talent to make drastic differences. You're not going to all of a sudden improve your defense by a wide margin by signing players who are getting bought out. There's a high-demand for 3/D players.

The only plausible way the Lakers can win games right now is to hope they have enough firepower offensively for 48 minutes to win games. If they go to the margins, the Lakers are the best team in the clutch in the NBA currently. You're going to need Reaves, LeBron, or Luka to close those games out.

You can't fix the defense but you can try and fix the 3 point shooting and bench scoring - two weak spots of the Lakers.

Getting Kennard will help the shooting. Cam Thomas will help the bench scoring. He can heat up and win games just by dropping 20 points.

The time to fix the defense was during the offseason. It's too late now!

I agree with Astros, I just don’t think there’s anyone out there that’s going to improve our defense.

I don’t think Terry is that guy either. With such low volume (1.4 attempts over 11 mins and 30 games), there can be a lot of variance in 3pt shooting. To put it into perspective it’s really the last 5 games where he went on a hot streak that bumped his whole percentage up. So I don’t think he has improved his shooting - it’s inconclusive but most likely he is the same guy he has been the last 3-4 years.

He could maybe develop into something, but not here, in a high pressure environment where we want to win.
