    I checked, there weren't.
We made the best deal of the deadline when using one 2nd or less. Same if you count a first.

OKC paid a first for McCain

clips might have won the deadline. acquired multiple 1st rounders (one of which could end up being a top 10 pick this year) and a good young player in mathurin

    Ehh. Yes and no.

If the current front office can’t get it done then we need to bring in people that can. It’s that straightforward for me at this point.

I don’t know how we can have faith in our ability to move a contract at this point.

now that the dust has settled, i think the only thing i'm really mad about is that we didn't get any of the bulls guards i liked (all moved or were cut).

like, we couldn't do kleber/knecht for terry/carter? carter got waived! terry went for yabusele, then got traded again!

not huge deals, short or long term, but i just would have preferred that to kleber, who's dead weight.

I’m disappointed we couldn’t get rid of some of our expiring dead weight contracts. Not sure how much money we have before hitting the first apron but hoping it’s enough to cut and pay someone if more than 1 buyout candidate we like becomes available.

Yeah Ayo went for only second round picks and Rob Dillingham. Some good opportunities missed but oh well.

Guess we will see about 2026 free agency with our cap space but the unrestricted FA's aren't that appetizing. Curious to see if we can pull a RFA.

possibly, but it may have been they wanted a second for the swap. but we had cash, and teams were taking that in some cases.

this is why i made the hot dog stand joke earlier--the buyout only gains us money if it's for less than what's left on the deal, i think. so 2 million dollar tree planting gig to maxi to take the buyout so that we have room to pick up two guys.

to me, this is where the laker tax hurts us sometimes. it's pernicious--like you'd think dalton knecht was the worst player ever drafted. except...he's probably been as good or better than dillingham. and they're like well, dillingham's young. and i'm like, well...he's tiny. knecht will recover his jumpshot. he did not just suddenly forget how to shoot. dillingham will not grow.

    upload_2026-2-5_17-27-41.png

anyway, the narrative is you have to pay to get off knecht and the lakers scouts are the dumbest. no such narrative about dillingham, mostly because nobody f***ing cares about the wolves, ever, for any reason.

same reason why rob will get skewered for picking knecht while nobody will say a word about connelly trading two future firsts to take dillingham 8th. because nobody cares about minny and everyone likes to s*** on the lakers.

    just annoying to me.

i'm still on team "4-5 laravias". there are 4 laravias out there. sign them reasonable deals, draft wisely, and you'll win a bunch of games and be in great position to make consolidation trades when they arise. you don't need to hit home runs.

now, a lot of those laravias (e.g., dosunmu, dieng) just got pre-agencied, but that's no guarantee they stay. and we're in position to make bloated short-term offers now that could make folks squirm. like, do the wolves match a 2/30 offer to dosunmu this summer? it will likely put them over the first apron all by itself, allowing no other additions to the roster.

that's just one example, but there are others out there. if you target your guys (like we did with laravia) and strike quickly, you can make it happen.

someone else mentioned that you can use a pick to maybe get denver to s&t watson into space instead of doing the RFA thing.

there's also absorption trades. if a star (doesn't have to be giannis) wants out in the summer, going straight into space is much more appetizing for the team than having to wait a year to start pivoting.
