i like garland but his myriad health issues concern me. it's AD-like in that none of them are career-threatening, but there's always something.

that said, i wasn't sold on the clips' cap space plan for 2027, and garland can reasonably replace harden when he's healthy.

not exactly sure what cleveland's thinking these days, tbh. i suppose here the worst case is harden flops and you got off garland's contract, but if harden was agitating for an extension, wouldn't that be part of the discussion here?

They may want to move Mobley to center full time and go more 5 out? In that case that much money in Allen doesn't make sense?
I don't know kind of shocked as I think Cleveland had a good trade dealing dumping Hunter for Ellis

I understand that's his preference but I think he has a higher preference for advancing in the playoffs. Allen wasn't on that list either.

Allen wasn't on that list because it was given to Rob leading up to the previous deadline when Cavs were the best team in the East and Allen wasn't on the block. All those names on that list were in full rumor mill rotation, even if some were going to cost a fortune.

You can tell your franchise cornerstone you know better, certainly. As a GM/ president of operations, that's your prerogative. But until we put a more competent team around him, I'd be looking to bank as much good will as possible.

Allen better than Ayton but he's big softie - he just got punked in the playoffs. I mean he's carrying the soft as charmin label.

I hear you, but I'm not convinced that is a deal breaker, for Luka here in anyway. I think he wants the best opportunity to win, right now more. He also says that he wants to compete for a chip this season. We also have to pay attention to that desire as well.

On a different track here..you have to consider how Luka views this Lebron situation too. You don't think he's paying close attention,
to how we are moving with LeBron?

I imagine Luka is thinking, damn..if we can't go all in with LeBron, him and Austin, now, because we want to preserve some damn cap space this summer, we can do the same s*** to him down the road.

LeBron is a GOAT level player, he brought this franchise a chip, and won it for Kobe no less! The dude is still playing at an All star level. We are supposed to just say f*** that, we need this cap space this summer? I really don't think that is banking goodwill with Luka either.

Another rumor going around today is something like Sabonis for Barrett + Agbaji. There'd have to be more/a third team. Wonder if we could peel Barrett off in that deal. The thought of LaVine/DeRozan/Murray/Hunter/Barrett/Monk/Russ all being in Sacramento makes my head hurt.

So Kessler's gone? Actually not a bad move from Jazz. Lauri and JJJ could fit well together. Memphis is having a fire sale so Lakers should see what they can get.

I think there's a chance its the opposite. Kessler stays, Lauri goes. JJJ has always worked best as a 4 that sometimes plays the 5.

That makes no sense. Why would Jazz trade 3 first round picks for JJJ to replace Lauri when Lauri is a significantly better player?

Wow. OK. Grizz taking a match to it. Ja must be next. Then KCP.

JJJ is the type of big you need next to Lauri.

Wonder what this means for Kessler, that's a lot to tie up into the front court financially.

3 first rounders for Jaren Jackson Jr? Trae Young and Luka Doncic fetched 1 combined? NBA market is whacked out.

Never give a player what he wants. He'll think he can walk all over you.

Well first I don't agree that Lauri is significantly better than JJJ. Lauri is definitely having the better season, but JJJ was definitely better last year. They're very difference players, but about the same caliber IMO.

Look at it this way - they just traded 3 firsts for JJJ, so clearly they like him and he's part of their future. What pairing makes more sense, JJJ + Kessler or JJJ + Lauri? When the Grizzlies had success, it was playing JJJ next to another big center (originally Adams, later Edey) most of the time and sliding him to the 5 for certain matchups. If you're pairing JJJ + Lauri at the 4/5, that's a pretty bad rebounding frontcourt and kind of redundant offensively. Maybe they like JJJ more than Lauri in a vacuum and think they can get more for Lauri than what they just traded to get JJJ.

Update - Tony Jones at The Athletic is saying the Jazz want to play Lauri/JJJ/Kessler together lol.
