I thought you were referring to just Upshaw and why he wouldn't come to camp for the reason being we have 15 guys already locked in. I'm not to worried about missing out on any of the other guys on our SL team, they sucked. I think we already have enough youth on the team as it is and no one really stands out as a must get player to get them to camp.

And my depth chart was to account for 14 bodies, not where they will play, FWIW.

I'm dubious about starting Byrant and cutting Bryant, but if you think it's a good move, sure ;)

I think it'd be a good move, honestly. If they're willing to give us Chalmers, we should take him. He's a vet, can be relied upon, can hit the three, and he's decent all-around.

Understood. I'm not terribly concerned about anyone else we had on SL either.

My guess is we'd only be able to pawn off two. But I'd trade Jabari and Kelly for Chalmers, then cut Sacre. Not a bad roster shaping move.

I like Chalmers... Plays with an edge. Tried to take Parker out once in the last Finals not that I recommend such behavior. Now if it was Chris Paul...then it's another story. :giggle:

Miami wants Chalmers for a 2nd rounder, they're literally trying to give him away. I'm not sure if they're trying to clear salary cap or just trying to move on from him, but the three contracts we'd give them are easily waivable if they don't want those guys around.

I still don't understand why we re-signed Sacre so early. To me, he and Kelly have to go. I'd like to see Sacre go above anyone else though, because Kelly at least has shown a tiny room for improvement when healthy that Sacre hasn't. Sacre's head has hit the ceiling and now it's pushing up against it so hard he's had to turn his head and now his neck is also against the ceiling, and his hands are on the ceiling bracing himself, but there is zero room for pushback, it's about to end badly. That's a terrible, terrible joke, I know, but I needed to hammer my point home like Sacre's head has been hammered into the ceiling. Sacre and Kelly need to be dumped, a real 2nd PG and Upshaw need to be signed.

I'd try to get rid of Kelly/Sacre/Nance. Preferably I'd try to attach Nance/Kelly and just waive Sacre all together*. He's basically a minimum expiring deal, we could eat that very easy and still have the vet min and room to fill his spot.

*Sacre's deal would still count towards the cap, but that won't get us very far without anyway.

DAR/JC/Brown/Brown/Randle/Black/Upshaw is a crap ton of youth. Clean out the garbage and bring in some vets.

A little harsh, but more or less true. I'm not sure I'd give up on Nance yet, but if trading him can help us get better...

You can trade rookies 30 days after signing them.

So, how about that Robert Upshaw? (Once upon a time this was the Upshaw thread :p)

In a couple of years we would regret getting rid of Nance.

Hmm, I hope a deal gets done. I'd hate to see some other team swoop in and sign him, I think he's worth taking a risk on.

I don't either. He needs a LOT of time in the D-League. As much promise as he showed, he's got a lot of room to grow and mature.

I wouldn't expect him to play a ton of minutes either. I did, however, have him penciled in at 936 (don't ask; it's a formula). So perhaps even that is a bit optimistic.
