Luka is allergic to setting screens - I get it he's been the man everywhere he's played but he's a big body whose very coordinated. Inverted Luka/AR and Luka/Lebron players would really confuse D which are so focused on him ballhandling. I said this another post, Luka should also try to reset after he drives and go to the post game when he drives and gets double teamed after penetration

I would really try hard if I were JJ to get Luka in the post or set screens because teams obviously have gameplanned and studied his PnR game to death at this point. He's so good that he;ll score but the TO's are a real problem and their bad TO's - teams automatically get on the break as the Lakers are not set to get back when he loses the ball. Kawhii last night jumped on what looked an unreal find by Luka to the opposite corner 3. I though great pass as Luka looked like he wanted the cutter but then switched to the corner 3 at last moment. But instead of a Luka Magic play thought Leonard clearly had that scouted and jumped on that. kawhii is kawhii but that definitely seemed more like they scouted out Luka's tendencies then a simple freak kawhii move.

 

Yeah, have to say all my assumptions about JJ doing something special with our offense when the 3 of Luka, LeBron and AR are on the floor together, considering their incredible combined passing ability, scoring ability and B-Ball intellect, have not happened. Bunch of ISO and make the pick Guy run 20 feet or more to beyond top of key every possession while seemingly trading off doing it. So much for greatest starting lineup passing capability in the history of the game.

This is a weird post: I''m just pointing out a clear area where I think Luka is getting the team into trouble. It's backed by the stats which show Luka's turnover rate is the highest of his career and JJ has even pointed it out. I hardly post anything in this thread as Luka's a great player and the time I posted I stated I think Luka could win a the MVP because based on his numbers he was going to average some crazy numbers (i.e.a point a minute between scoring and assists) and posting tweets about how the Lakers are lucky to have him

It's one thing to state what I was seeing was incorrect but I honestly don't think I'm wrong about this - Luka gets himself into trouble because he's so good that he thinks he can beat any defense thrown at him and the way he tries to beat the defenses which are designed to take aways his strengths (TO's rather then just say a missed shot) is particularly difficult for the Lakers transition defense to handle.

And I do think these performances against these athletic teams where what I pointed out has made his performance subpar, is the difference between him being the likely MVP (Jokic, Shai) vs probably being #3. When you're the best of the best but not the best I think it's worth thinking about what would take him to get to the top
