After tonight, I would say you’re delusional. No way Lakers come out of the West, let alone beat OKC as currently constructed.

I was looking at Herb's numbers, but I can't find specifically what he's shooting from the corners.

Either way, this starting 5 needs a change.

I wonder what Robert Williams III asking price would be right now - just contemplating. Be nice if you can start Ayton and go to Williams. He's just so damn injured all the time and Portland never trades with us...just thinking.

32% from the corners this year. i'm not trading for jones unless i'm getting a good deal. like...you only get my 1st if you take vando. he's been trending down now for a year-plus.

he's probably only a marginal upgrade on hayes, all things considered. i'm actually fine with our center rotation. i might like a third guy who's more of a pf/c--kleber would be great if we had a time machine.

we need to get a keon ellis type or unearth one from the g-league or something. can we speed up manon's development, plz?

Damn, that's bad. I like Williams, but he's already missed 9 games this year. See what happens.

Can we please start Smart so that we actually start a POA defender and a dude with a motor - walking into death traps against these athletic teams with our hands tied behind our backs. Everyone knows the team needs another atheltic POA defender but the Lakers are exacerbating their weaknesses and reducing their strengths with the lineups righ tnow

i think someone else mentioned that smart's iffy health could lead to a lot of shuffling, which disrupts chemistry. i can see that. i'd like to trade for someone who can defend 1s and 2s and make shots. of course, i've wanted that since caruso left, so...

We at least JJ has to see that Gabe ain't the answer (and I appreciate what Gabe is tasked to do)

I'd rather have Smart be in and out of a lineup that actually makes sense than consistently start one that doesn't

The reason Lakers win close game is that their 4th quarter defense has been quite good. Since we haven't traded for anyone at the half, this is clearly due to lineups.
This happened in the Spurs game as well as the Lakers seemed to have figured them out but just ran out of time to get out of the big hole

    Here go

The player most often linked to the Lakers as a target by rival scouts and executives is New Orleans wing Herbert Jones, who cannot be traded until Jan. 14 because he signed a three-year extension with the Pelicans in July.

While Lakers fans can fantasize about some all-out liquidation of the three-win Pelicans’ roster, team and league sources tell The Athletic that New Orleans is not interested in moving Jones. And considering what LA would have to offer in a deal, expiring contracts and a single first-round pick, the Pelicans almost certainly wouldn’t engage at that price point.

According to league sources, that future Lakers pick, which could be in 2031 or 2032, is less valuable than it was viewed both before the Luka Dončić trade and since Mark Walter’s acquisition of the franchise. The belief is that since Walter has proven to be an effective owner with the Los Angeles Dodgers, that he and whoever he entrusts the franchise to will, at minimum, keep it from the kind of freefall that would truly make that future first-round pick less of a lottery ticket.

Maybe the view of the Lakers’ assets or the Pelicans’ view of Jones will change between now and the Feb. 5 NBA trade deadline, but as of now, sources point out, New Orleans would need a whole lot to be convinced otherwise.

Eff em. No giving up what valuable assets we have for an older on the decline Jones. Develop Manon by getting our 2-way money's worth from him in games. He looks really nice on D with his strength and quickness and isn't a 0 on offense. For one thing. Same with Thiero. Like Toklat says get these guys playing time with the Varsity. And then hope Rob does what he usually does and pulls off a sleeper good trade at the deadline none of the twitter/X types were even thinking about.

This, for me, is JJ’s biggest fail so far. He has better defenders who are more athletic to put in and he’s just refusing to.

    not technically. but sort of.

yeah, NO can kick rocks. join the list of other teams who over-asked on their players and ended up moving them for much less later. yeah, i'll give up the house for the guy having a career-worst year as you toil in the cellar. that's the ticket.
