Can we have Nico facilitate the deal so we can keep Austin again?

i like it.

1st idea: gabe/knecht to clips for dunn/djj. awesome. pretty sure ballmer throws the hammer on it, but they could also look at zubac and think we already gave them one several-year starter.

others are interesting, too, but they get complicated. he thinks ellis won't be available to us in trade, which is what i've felt as well. so he suggests just getting carter, which i could do. doesn't do a lot for us this year, but he's a better long-term fit than knecht, imo.

he also suggests one with indy, but i think there's no way they deal with us until rob's gone.

the one with chicago where we move vando for williams/okoro/highsmith(from nets in 3-team) is interesting, but that one and the indy trade both cut into future flexibility without really delivering the kind of immediate impact i'd want.

 

sad. loved watching him throw his weight around and those left handed dunks on those 90s teams. never backed down from anyone, and that included shaq in the 04 finals. he played some great defense in that series

So Giannis asked for a trade at some point this summer, there were some preliminary talks with the Knicks, but the Bucks decided against it and stretched Dame to sign Turner instead? Seems like Giannis wants out, but isn't willing to fully put his thumb on the scale. Still think probably nothing happens until the summer when he is extension eligible.

 

The way to get a bargain there is A) Giannis has to specifically name us as where he wants to go. B) Austin's team has to tell them he's not going to re-up to be part of a Bucks rebuild.

Then they're forced to take expirings (which helps after their Dame fiasco), DK, Thiero, and all picks and swaps we can muster.

I don't love the fit and still think he wants to be on the East Coast so flights home are easier. BUT if he wants to win, we're probably one of his best plays for the next stretch.

 

i don't see a path to giannis for us unless we want to move reaves, which i don't.

now, if lebron wants to be traded and bought out to ring chase elsewhere...

feel like knicks were the team he wanted, right? why not just take towns and whatever they can sweeten it with (all their picks), then move towns to a third team for expirings and more picks?

edit: checked and i think knicks have no picks to give, really, so...forget that one.

anyway, just keep giannis east and hopefully we can nab our jrue holiday pickup in the fallout.

 

I don't see any scenario where we end up with Giannis without Austin going out in that trade, mostly because I don't think Giannis will do (A). We already pretty much know he wouldn't mind being on the Knicks.

 

I think the Bridges/Anunoby for Giannis with the Bucks spinning those two out for picks from contenders makes more sense. Could probably get themselves 4 firsts and some swaps between the two of them. I'd gladly send the Rui, Gabe and Kleber expirings plus any draft capital we have to trade for Anunoby.

Sounds to me like CP3 was a disgruntled employee and he got himself axed over it. That has happened to other people I have known in my life.

 

I think if it takes Reaves to get Giannis I think you kind of have to do it?
Giannis probably got 2-3 MVP elite years left and that fit with Luka would be devastating - not really sure how you're supposed to defend that PnR

Plus you have OKC with the Clippers pick and SAS with Wemby and Fox back healthy - thats two teams who may jump to all time great status without having to do any trades. Freakin scary as hell
