It’s true, Kleber played well, brought some energy on defense when a lot of the team were flat. That starting lineup just does not work, it is so damn slow, JJ needs to figure something else out
i've always loved what he brought as a role player (poor man's horford), but...i just can't trust him to be on the floor. he's gotta be a 2011 mavs stojakovic--if he's there for 8 minutes in a key playoff game, awesome! depend on him as a rotation piece, death.
I think he's a good option as a third backup big. But at his price and age I'd definitely look to possibly move him at the deadline for a longer term fit.
definitely no reason to hold onto him, imo. now, if there's nothing really great to be had for expirings, it's ok to keep him. he's heading for a vet min or out of the league next year (sorry svtzr).
It's a nice luxury to have a smart vet big who sets screens, can defend depending on the match-up and just steadily makes the right play especially in high leverage minutes. Want him to trust his shot a little more. I know he's still working himself back, but he's passed up some that are part of his bag. If he was making the min, I'd be open to giving him a real as long as Luka wants him here. But at his current salary, he'll he more useful going elsewhere and bringing us more talent. He's always welcomed back down the road, too.
