Luka Doncic Discussion: Lean Mean Slovenian Extension Machine

That was widely reported everywhere, Luka would be traded somewhere else, if we had said no.

 

man, that call would have been tough for me as minny's gm. luka's clearly a better player than ant. but...you just can't pull that trigger, right?

milwaukee is also wild...like, giannis is the franchise and has been loyal...but he's got a lot of dame heel-turn potential, imo. like a ton. because he's kind of said it. you get ahead of that and end up with luka and basically being a finals contender for another several years? maaaaannnnn....i'd have thought about it...

anyway, again, their loss, our gain. we win.

 

From what I understand, there are advanced internal stats that point to Luka not being as effective as his numbers show. He gets his points, assists his team mates, but for whatever reason, it isn't as impactful as you'd expect it to be. Something like his big games don't lead to blow outs like Steph's do.

Likewise there are advanced stats that point to AD being a game changing defensive big. I'm not trying to excuse him... but I kind of get it. Where this breaks apart is, he didn't get AD, Reaves, Max and both 1sts for Luka. Which to be fair would have been an all time great return and probably sets up Dallas to compete.

That's a legit team and they could maybe make a consolidating trade for another impact piece - sending out one of Gafford or Lively with 2 firsts for an impact SF.

 

Let's face it if some people b**** about LeBron's career with the ball dominance, LOL meet Luka Doncic. Definitely a ball dominant top gunslinger who can back it up but often it's not pretty basketball unless he involves the team to keep them sharp too and not standing around. AR so far has produced better looking team basketball including an arguably better so far one / two punch with Ayton. It's early and its just a joy to have ALL the alpha talent we have on this squad.
