Luka starting the season with 200 points in his first 5 games, just under a couple of Wilt Chamberlain seasons, looking slim and athletic, beating Wemby and S.A. This is not just a stellar start to the season this is a FELONY. I think he is trying to get Nico KILLED for trading him. So much fun to watch our flashy, ultra competitive assassin.

That trade was so unlikely and so bad it is still almost hard to believe it happened. Keep thinking I'm in some AI bubble that will eventually burst.

yeah, i was among the few who thought luka might end up here somehow, but i never imagined the timing/circumstances (i thought it was going to be next summer, if at all). it's absolutely wild. it does feel fake. and we might not get a ring from it, but we'll get several years of better ball than we were going to see by a longshot. this is an all-time great-level player, imo, and i said it before he came here so it's not just homerism.

What's crazier is that he's still only 26 so the Mavs gifted us another 10 years of contention while also clearing a huge dark cloud over our heads by taking on an injury-prone star in AD. With Lebron also aging, our future looked bleak. Yes, it's absolutely wild that we got to keep AR and our outlook has made a complete 180 in a matter of 8 months.

Much like with Pau, where we got to keep Odom AND Bynum.

Luka is more dominant than Mona Kimura and that girl is amazing.

Honestly I’m still kind of in disbelief that he’s on our team. It’s crazy that we have Luka.

I think Luka is just starting to enter his prime now. He is on a tear and it's only going to get better from here.

We’ve had two really unlikely things happen at the same time that have totally shifted our future.

    - Luka, a generational player gets traded here at the start of his prime for a package that doesn’t fit our team

    - Reaves, an undrafted player develops into an All Star caliber contributor.

Both of these are HIGHLY unlikely, getting both of them in the same timeline is such a low probability.

If we have one more unlikely but positive thing happen; trade for a defensive 1-3 3&D guy that fits with Luka and Reaves or have Adou develop into a defensive monster or have Ayton sign long term for a favourable contract and continue to play like this, we’d have a real shot at a ring. If two of those things happens, we’d be a perennial favourite for 5 years.

Book Thiero. Book Ayton (Walters won't let talent we already have walk away .... he"ll eat the repeater tax for a snack). (I'm guessing)

We don’t have Ayton’s bird rights. If he stays for another year and picks up his option, we can sign him for 175% of his current contract. After 3 years and we have his full bird rights.

If he wanted more money next year, the best we could do is stay below the first apron and sign him to the MLE next year. And then to a bigger contract the year after. He effectively misses 10-15m of earnings for one year and gets a great situation. If he wants more, it might come down to letting LeBron leave.

Adou I’m not sure, but I’m excited.

Talking about 3&D prospects. Keon Ellis didn’t play minutes until the 4th yesterday when the kings were blown out and Doug Christie came out and said it’ll be even harder for him when Murray comes back.

If that dumpster fire of an organisation stops playing him, I’d swoop in for Monk and Ellis. I’d propose:

Monk, Ellis and a 2nd for Gabe, Kleber, Knecht and a 1st.

    Ellis / Smart / Bronny
    Reaves / Monk
    Luka / LaRavia / Vando
    Lebron / Rui / Adou
    Ayton / Hayes

At that point we’d be able to pick up one more player for the buyout market. Either a PG or a big.

stein said something similar this morning, but his phrasing was more careful. they need to fire him, even if the owners put him up to the trade. i really think the owners were just clueless and listened to him about the operation. and i get why you might do that, but you should have at least consulted cuban on a deal that big if you're new to the ownership game.

anyway, they need to trade AD, and the only way to do that is to fire harrison.
