Julius Randle Discussion: Beast, Ox, Monster, Lotus Flower

he has eaten Reggie Evans alive so far. I know Evans is an old ball grabbing psycho but Julius seem oblivious to this, doing his usual manhandling or bullying that everybody says won't work in the NBA

 

Watching him go head to head with cousins (a monster) makes you wonder who Randle would feel outmatched by. He's easily more physical than Griffin and he seems to like it. He's relentless. I didn't see enough of him at Kentucky so I'm wondering if he's now starting to play as comfortably in the NBA as he was in college. From the way everyone talked about his limitations, he must be showing even more skills now. This guy is a force.

 

Yeah. He seems to indeed improve his shot - he gets it to Malone/West level and he is a HoF.

 

I don't know about improving his shot. If you watch his high school highlights, he has that ever since. Only in the 1 year he went to college was he prevented from shooting those. It is what it is. When it goes in, he'll be unstoppable, when it's not, we're in for a long night.

 

He's tough. He can already handle Cousins the headcase.

 

That's what I was thinking tonight but then he played some physical defense and decided that he was going to score one way or another. Then shot started falling. There probably will be those nights when it's not falling and he's f***ing chucking the ball at the rim but he looks like he's going to attack and score or get fouled. He has a comfort level playing that way. I'm wondering what Orlando and Boston are feeling letting him fall to us now.

 

I wouldn't say handle Cousins. I haven't seen anyone handle that guy. Dude has made Bynum and Dwight look silly at times. He's strong and skilled and can kill you from anywhere on the floor. He's also only 24 and will likely get better if he plays for better team. But what I was giddy about was that Randle seemed to enjoy going at him. No hesitation at all until he had 4 fouls I think and then he only let up a little on defense.

 

Forget about Cousins. The dude is a legitimate All-Start center with size. JR won't see many of these. He will see quite a bit of Reggie Evanses, bulky, dirty PFs. And he handled him alright.

Guys like Dirk or Bosh do not stand a chance, power wise.

Snake, awesome short clips! Can we even imagine if the bottom two were going to his right. Can Kobe and Byron beat that into his head as one of his goals for this off season? Last game against Portland.....on one of his coast to coasters, after he knocked the defender inside the circle on his can for no charge..... he put it up with a soft right hand over the rim and IN. Already he's showing he's not totally a lock to shoot lefty.

 

Yeah, I don't think Millsap can recover from being bumped while moving laterally. Just like Evans. I say only LBJ but he too might not be able to recover now that he has abstained from HGH

 

I was impressed with Randle's decision making in the open court last night.I thought he pushed at the right time. He advanced the ball when guards were up ahead. He got the ball to a guard when the defense was back rather than taking it himself. These are little things that you don't expect a rookie to understand at first, but Randle does pretty well for a rookie. I was ecstatic when I heard that Byron wanted Randle to take the ball up when given the opportunity, and it seems like it will pay off not only with breathtaking plays in the open court, but with smart basketball decisions.
