didn't see the game, but when you're playing with four plumbers against the top ranked team, it's possible stepbacks are the only available shot.

There is a fine art to b@#$( at refs that is developed over decades. Could write a book in it. A ref knows he messed up you complain with a smile. Let them save face. They appreciate that. They can be intimidated by other coaches or teams they perceive as better, then they need a jolt of reality. Phil Jackson had a way of making refs feels like fools if they didn't see it his way. To LT's point, yes, the over whining and angry tone typically works against you. I used to ref and have some sympathy for them, not much.

i also think getting a T early in a game is never a good look. you have to try other strategies to get the refs to pay attention before the freakout.

phase 1: polite declaration and request.
phase 2: if possible, commit the same infraction to gain the same advantage.
    phase 3: yelling/demonstrating

one cannot just go straight to phase 3!

i'll have to watch if i get a chance. i just think if teams are walling off the paint and don't respect your teammates, the stepback three's expected value is higher than a contested midrange. i'm also just guessing based on commentary that bulling into the paint was precluded by the refs allowing a hackathon.

anyway, i feel like luka doesn't have a general tendency to over settle for the stepback. he uses it strategically to keep the defense honest, but he penetrates a lot and uses an array of floaters and turnarounds, too.

Where does Doncic's 34.7 points per game rank in EuroBasket history?

Luka Doncic entered the history books once again
With two games left to play, Luka Doncic has all but secured another scoring title to his name.

RIGA (Latvia) - For decades, Nikos Galis stood in a league of his own. Now, Luka Doncic has joined that elite company with a campaign that cements his place alongside the Greek legend.

The Slovenian superstar ended his quest in FIBA EuroBasket 2025 in the Quarter-Finals after averaging 34.7 points per game, becoming only the third player to average north of 30 points at the event.

Aside from Galis and Doncic, the only other player with 30+ points per game was Israel's Doron Jamchy with 31.9 points per game in 1987.

They could be joined by Giannis Antetokounmpo by the end of this event, as the Greek Freak is at 29.8 points per contest, with two more games left to play.

For Antetokounmpo to overtake Doncic in the top spot of the scoring charts in 2025, he would need to score at least 95 points in his last two games.

haven't seen the play, but he'd have to have been there before luka gathered for it to be a charge. could have pulled a battier and jumped from inside the circle to outside after it was clear the move was coming. that's a block.

    Welcome to the family.

Luka Doncic of the Los Angeles Lakers in late August paid $25 million for the Manhattan Beach home of retired five-time Grand Slam singles champion Maria Sharapova.

The modern three-story house features five bedrooms, a two-lane bowling alley and a great room that opens to the pool’s edge.

Those Turks looked phenomenal against Greece! As I predicted, it's going to be Turkey-Germany in the finals.

We denied him and always forced him to make a strong dribble inside, trapping him with Sengun and Osmani, who were always aggressive in denying him. Every time he tried to beat Osmani, Sengun came to help inside.

"He never found space. I said it in the press conference: it's not the NBA. In European basketball, if you prepare with this kind of paint defense and your players are aggressive—closing and opening—it's successful. It's not very difficult to stop him," Ataman concluded
