he's ultra competitive and gets fouled a lot. i'm not even sure he whines more than say, lebron, who faces the same issues in terms of people hacking him all the time because of his strength advantage. both guys also dish some bumps, though, so they'd be better off if they considered that and just took a bad no-call here and there. your whines would be more powerful at a lower frequency!

edit: and while i've always been annoyed by the preferential treatment that some stars get from the refs (harden, wade, and now SGA burst into mind) and argue that they whine less because they get all the calls, there is probably also some truth to the reverse: all three of those guys were able to control their whining better than luka does. both can be true.

yeah, not watching the game right now, but in nba games, luka gets fouled a lot without calls. more than most other stars, imo.

 

Luka play 21 minutes without substitute and he plays with 4 fouls

But Luka is absolutely killing it

 

Woooo!! He made it though basically uninjured. Now in great shape to let his body rest a bit and then come into camp completely ready to go 30 lbs lighter than last year.

 

Terrible refereeing, a terrible fourth quarter due to the constant fouls called.

Luka almost pulled off an incredible feat, because Germany is a much, much stronger and longer team than Slovenia...
But Luka is Luka, a guy who scores 40 points as if it were the easiest thing in the world.

Sensational Eurobasket for him; he did everything he could for his national team, as he usually does.

 

Correlation does not equal causation is one of the funnest research topics. It’s like when people say eating ice cream at the beach has a correlation with shark attacks… to me the Luka has bad decision making is just as big a stretch as the ice cream shark thing.

 

i spend many days discussing correlation and causation, and man...if more people in the world really understood the logic of causation, things would be better.

 

Bright side in this is it will motivate Luka to win the NBA title instead.

A side note (but not too much): Luka, when he wants, bends his legs and moves his feet on defense.

Let me be clear, statistics mean little to me, and even in this Eurobasket, we saw the defensive difference between teams that systematically attacked him (like yesterday) and teams that didn't attack him consistently (like Italy, who were inexplicable in this regard, and I am italian).

In short, Luka defended very well for his standards and, above all, showed a commitment and mobility that I didn't expect from him and that I easily attribute to his physical condition, which allowed him to play that offense while still having the energy to defend decently.

Obviously, there's a big difference between calling him a defender and saying that he puts great effort on defense.

 

Couldn't be too agressive offensively because he picked up an early 4th foul on a charge but still way too many 3s in the clutch .

You're not winning games in the clutch when it reallt matters by shooting step back 3s ..
