Yes he looks injured in second half, but game vs Germany is September 10
    He will be fine
    P .S
Doncic took a hard fall onto his right side just 36 seconds into the game
    hopefully he isn't injured.

How lame is that we have Curling and Cornhole as “sports” on ESPN, but no Eurobasket!?
I know it all has to do with the politics of money but it still sucks.

See?! If he still had cushion on that side like he used to. Chubby is for protection, y’all.

I’m just worried his body will need significant rest halfway through the season.

I don't know what he's watching cause Luka is looking he is rolling into his prime.
Luka right now is splitting a very good deal. No one lights it up in euro ball and yet he is doing just that.

He is down 30 pounds and heavily motivated. He is really just getting warmed up because he took some time off at the end of the season and didn't play. He's never been fast but is moving like he was 3-4 years ago. I like that he is still carrying enough weight to bully players down low.

it's when you kind of know how to do something and get overconfident leading to failure.

i don't ski personally, but if you get your weight shifted too far, you'll fall, which is where the phrase comes from.

the application here is that cranjis obviously spends a lot of time analyzing the game and has some good insights, but now and then he says some absolutely wacky stuff. this happens to lots of wonks, imo--they start to drink their own koolaid (e.g., my numbers say robert williams is better than bill russell, so he is--it's not that my numbers have a flaw!). in this specific case, he's probably over scrutinizing a small sample of film to conclude that doncic makes bad reads. sorry, you can't have the level of offensive success this guy has had whilst not being able to "read the floor". if that's your analysis, probably re-think your analysis.

The black box stuff gets annoying after awhile - I get it you have every right ot make a living BUT at some point you have to let people know what the confidence intervals, sample sizes, etc are. Plus when you use data to predict the future - you should theoretically run a power analysis to see how many plays/games you'll need to actually get an idea of what you're predicting even has a reasonable chance of being proven/disproven.

this happens not just with the quants but science types like the Huberman podcast. This guys did legit research but then goes off on supplements, etc based on the minimum of data. Works in a rat - take this twice a day for the rest of your life

I ski conservatively so I rarely fall but fast enough to have fun. Weight forward with tips spread and back of skis crossed in a fall = "downhill herringbone" = NO FUN :swear:

It looks like the comment about Luka making bad reads was specific to a March game against the Bucks, where we got blown out and Luka had 6 turnovers to just 3 assists (he had 45 points though).

oh, yeah--i just spent part of the day explaining to my class the flawed study that started the "tylenol causes autism" thing. a little knowledge can be dangerous. and sometimes even a lot of knowledge paired with blatant bias is even moreso.

oh, if he just said luka made a bad read once or a few in a game...i'm not sure why it's a topic for anyone, really. my reading of the original was that he was implying this was some sort of trend and connected to the larger "luka used to be good but is in obvious and terminal decline" narrative that started sometime last year.

I think it was a one-off thing, he's been really positive on how Luka's played in Eurobasket.

Speaking of Luka, I'm not going to pretend like I've watched any of Eurobasket but it sounds like he's looked great. A little quicker than what we saw in the regular season due to the weight loss and scoring really well around the rim, which I don't think he did quite as well with us either. I'm in full NFL mode right now but cannot wait to watch him play night to night once the season starts.
