He's definitely improved and seems like a good kid with a good head on his shoulders, but he's still not close to being an NBA rotation player. Which is totally fine, he's a 20 year old former second round pick. You can see the outline of a good POA defender, but he's certainly not there yet. But from his comments the other day he seems to know that, which is good. If keeps progressing maybe he can get some real minutes in 2026-2027.

Disagree and could be wrong but I expect he will get some minutes this year.

He can go with his pops after next season. Lakers need to get out of the Klutch and James business. We've all had enough of that fill.

Bronny has a long way to go, but he looks quite a bit better than last summer for sure. His confidence in his shot is still not there, though I do think his misses are not as bad as before, and while his handle is improved he still loses the ball a lot. His defense is super solid though, he’s not afraid to guard anyone, he’ll body up a center, that’s cool to see, and he remains a really good passer with his dad’s feel for the game. I think he has a chance to be a solid defensive role player if he continues to get some leeway to develop at his own pace.

Jumpers not good enough. He's not enough of a playmaker but he's going in that defensive 3rd guard type. Defense looks good. His athletic ability really fits well in transition

3 point shooting just not on par to be an offensive ball spacer right now though. Can't see him getting minutes anytime soon till that gets beeter

His progress is visible but he started in a very low bar. Still 1-2 years away of a spot in the rotation of a contender. I think he would benefit of being in a team with no expectations, like Brooklyn. Developing Bronny and trying to win immediately doesn't match.

Still not worth a roster spot and Bron should have that in mind when he complains about the Lakers

I agree with all of this except for the “not a good playmaker.”
I’ve seen very good passes from him while playing with guys who won’t ever be in the League. It takes two to finish a great pass. Guys who can carve out space, seal off their man, and who’ve developed chemistry with the passes make for great receivers.
I think Bronny has a very good feel for the game and hasn’t tried to push his playmaking by trying wild passes with lesser talent.
He’s never going to be an Austin Reaves type secondary ball handler, but he doesn’t need to be. He can develop into a slightly worse version of Marcus Smart and have a very productive career.
Yes, his shot has a ways to go, but so many guys who started out poor shooters as rookies turned into to better than average ones over the course of their careers.

Shot 38% from three on high volume in his g league games last year; I think he’ll be passable there soon, which is faster than gpII got there.

I think he think he belongs, and sometimes that's half the battle

I think he'll carve out a decent career no matter what ya'all think of his Dad.

He surely is putting in the effort and staying out of the spotlight

Have to give him credit for that

The guy is good in not being diverted from his father's shadow.

He's conscious that he has to develop his game, especially the defensive side and the 3point pct. to assurge to an NBA caliber player, but he likes to sweat and learn; thought he has the legacy of his father from a work ethic point of view.

It's a pity he doesn't have the length, but he can be a good rotation player in the league, i think.

    Anyway, I root for him.

    Los Angeles Lakers

    Bronny James | SG
    2024 draft: Round 2, No. 55

Much of James' development as a rookie took place out of sight, as he logged just 181 NBA minutes. James saw far more action for the G League's South Bay Lakers, combining for 18.6 PPG, 4.8 APG and 4.6 rebounds per game over 18 games. After struggling with his efficiency in the G League Tip-Off Tournament, James was far better in the regular season, making 38% of his 3s. Those numbers are what the Lakers will want to see this summer and what could eventually make James an NBA contributor. -- Pelton

Yeah it's a testament of Bron's parenthood, great stuff to be honest. I mean look at most of these youngsters.
The kid has no ego, keeps his head down, was mature enough to understand it's defense that can make him belong in the NBA, works hard and never used the platform for self-benefit.
At the same time, also didn't let the unprecedented coverage, bad mouth and memefication affect him on what he needed to do to develop.

    Hat off

Or let Screaming A’s ridiculous WAILING at LeBron to stop the horror of letting Bronny do just ^^^ THAT you mentioned, affect or embarrass him. Instead he went out and had some good moments with the varsity off the bench and continued improvement in G-league competition to shut his sorry a** up.

He outplayed knecht today. At least he doesn’t get hunted on defense by g league players.

I think he may be a better pick if things keep going like this.

When you’re 6’1.5” in “socks”, with shoes what they are today Bronny on the actual court is 6’2.5” at least. Still so many haters on LG. One guy just claimed he was 6’ if that. Swear to G. :swear:

    Just finished watching.
Bronny really has learned how to play under control now- he’s made big improvements since last summer.
Koloko looked really good as well on D.
Kinecht really needs to play with guys who are the focus of the offense to be effective. He’s very awkward when trying to create his own shot.
