btw, still holding out hope for my gabe/knecht for dosunmu/terry trade.

chicago has white and just signed tre jones at pg. i'm guessing they'll eventually come to terms with giddey, too. there's just not a ton of room in the rotation for young guards, but they could use a vet like gabe off the bench, and they traded for huerter, so maybe knecht would also interest them.

all but vincent share an agent, btw...

security. it's literally twice the amount of money guaranteed.

yes. how...is...that...hard to understand? it's a great deal FOR LEBRON. it's a bad deal for his team.

this is immaterial to the conversation, and you're just trying to pick a battle you can win instead of refuting the above.

why would you take 50 million instead of 100 million dollars?

If we’re counting on Bronny for meaningful minutes, we’re f*****. Just like if we were counting on Dalton for meaningful minutes last year we were f*****. This isn’t how title contention really works, Bronny is a project, and I like the kid and I’m rooting for him, but he needs to be brought along carefully.

OK then just Vando. That’s a not “bad” 10 man rotation for the season when you look at the talent at the top. So far.

Why do you need security when you are seriously contemplating retirement? I still don't get your logic here.

Bad deal for the team? Lebron James, the cash cow of All time? It's a bad thing, to continue to be tied to HIM? Are you even trying to be serious, from a business standpoint?

LeBron makes too much money for that organization, even if he’s not playing well or sidelined with an injury,” he said. “This is a business first, never forget that. The Lakers would never make up the revenue he provides. Not even in five years

I bring up Kobe, and Jordan, to simply point out, how ridiculous some of this stuff, you keep throwing out about Lebron, actually sounds.

Windy must have got the memo. He was talking positive about Ayton today on ESPN.

Back on sript..this team is better than it was against Minnesota. We still have all options available to get even better IMO. This has been a good offseason so far.

Over paying vets a max or near enough usually means they aren’t tradeable assets. FVV certainly wasn’t. We could just pay Lebron as the vet in this scenario since he is as a top 15 player?

I dunno, none of these strategies are particularly good to me. Giannis is going to be 33 and may have 2 years left at an all NBA level barring injuries? Over paying for vets is fine, but then excluding Lebron from that for whatever reason is strange.

I’m thinking we probably won’t try to put a second star next to Luka, but just get a lot of good pieces. If we could turn LeBron’s max salary into two solid pieces, it would help a lot with our core of Rooves, Rui and Luka.

Bronnie has got to step up. He’s way too athletic to not be at least a force defensively. And I understand guys saying we need more than him. I get that. But we got this young 19 year old guy on the bench use him.

fresh legs. That’s what’s gonna help us win. He can be a Shannon brown or an Alex Caruso. Or a TJ Mcconel.

    hopefully we bring Beal in.

Yes and the paragraph below from the link is the reason we shouldn’t be on the hook to pay LeBron 50 plus million after his contract ends next year.

“Even then, the Lakers would say, ‘So what,'” the scout said. “LeBron will be 41 years old. If he wanted to walk at the end of the season, the Lakers would just shrug and move along and get the cap space. This isn’t 27-year-old LeBron. You don’t have leverage when you’re 41.”

By itself, maybe it’s not “bad”, but with the context of how insanely deep other teams in the West are, it is “bad”. If we truly expect to compete, we have to be better than this, the roster as it is, same as last year, isn’t going anywhere of note. It just isn’t fun as a spoiled Lakers fan to go into a season knowing that we don’t currently have a shot at the title. Things can change, stuff can always happen, but again, I’d rather we had a full training camp with new players to mesh and practice rather than add them at the deadline and have to work them in. That can still happen, there’s time, it just doesn’t look great at the moment.

That man will be 41 years old Cookie. I don't believe this Lebron still wants to run s*** narrative. Now if Lebron was All NBA again after this season. I guarantee you that the Lakers wouldn't be shrugging, and talking about no cap space!

Lol..the cap space that was getting eaten up by Luka, Austin and Rui’s (if he's still here) extensions anyway.

No.. Walter would be on board with paying that tax!

Can I ask two questions, why is everyone seemingly so eager to get out of the LeBron James business? We’re talking about maximising Luka’s competitive window. Lebron very well may be the best player Luka plays with during his Lakers tenure - he is still worth the contract and is still producing.

Now, you may argue he can’t stay healthy, but that’s not a great argument when so many young stars went down this season. Health is just the luck of the draw.

So let’s say we don’t resign him next year, who do you think we can sign that would be a FA could make us more competitive? And then from a trade standpoint, who can we get that wouldn’t strip our team enough that would make us more competitive?

Aside from just saying Lebron will be 42, what’s a better direction towards a chip than him? (He won’t get traded for pieces so don’t use that argument)

Do you really think Ayton is a borderline NBA player? I think he was the best center available by far and I don’t even like Ayton but that was because he made too much money . Paying him peanuts is a great move. I think LaRavia will help too. I couldn’t care less if we lose out on guys like Beal.

The Lebron hate, has always been strong and lurking under the surface here. Luka's arrival just allows some, to fully come out of the closet with it.
