But you jsut know some anti laker media talking heads are gonna say it. I don’t know what cooper Flagg is going to be, but Larry Bird is one of the highest bars in all of basketball - he played for the enemy but man what a player.

This is his 3rd straight season here, the pay raise is automatic, we have his Bird rights after this season now.

miami got powell for love and anderson?

not sure about collins for powell, either, as powell was doing nicely filling in for the paul george loss there, and collins isn't that kind of player. they did clear some salary, maybe signing beal after buyout?

 

I don't understand this trade from the Clippers perspective. Powell was really good: AR level production

they got collins, utah was the dumping ground.

i'm just not sure collins is an improvement. he's different, though, and slots in as a starting 4 for them. which is why i wondered if they have a sg incoming.

edit: after looking at some stats again, i remembered why i liked collins for us--he actually grades out better than powell pretty consistently. powell's not a strong defender (he's basically reaves on that end, worse actually).

so the clips improved a bit, miami improved a bit, and utah just continued its quest to be the worst ever.

 

Clippers are paving the way for a Bradley Beal signing, IMO. They have $5 million to offer and wanted to upgrade their frontcourt. Utah is saving money and tanking next year. Miami got a good player in Powell, but this trade hard caps them at the first apron and moves them into luxury cap territory. Arison doesn't like paying luxury tax. Look for Miami to get off of Wigging or other moves, subsequently.

Clipps didn't want to pay Powell. They get a front court upgrade and likely replace Powell's offense with Beal's.

Heat get an infusion of offense. This likely keeps Wiggins there because while his numbers have been down, he can defend a bit and that's needed next to Powell.


Love to LA for that stretch big/ mentor we wanted for Ayton? Bron would be happy, they were in NY hooping together a couple weeks ago.
