I think it’s a solid gamble to take on a minimum. Hesitant to do more if I’m honest.

That's not exactly how that played out. I guess he pissed Phx off, by handling his business , and signing that offer sheet from Indiana. Then all of a sudden he became this big "problem " in Phoenix.

why would he join us though, unless we're moving AR to the bench?

To win a chip? AR to the bench isn't such a horrible idea either. He can still play 30min a game. I get this idea, of adding defensive impact players. Yet for me, the single biggest issue, that has lead to us losing 3 straight playoffs series. Is that we couldn't score in the 2nd halves, and down the stretch, against Denver or Minnesota. We couldn't even get AD the ball consistently, in the 2nd halves against Denver. Luka and Lebron were both running on fumes in the 4th against Minnesota, and Austin and Rui couldn't elevate in order to cover that.

 

He's gone the Irwin route as an independent. Wanted to get away from the travel demands of the beat life and away from writing, wants to focus on video and audio content. Still covering the team, still has full access, will be at home games, practice, in the locker room, press conferences, etc. and maybe a few road trips here and there.

He did say he has some career news but he can't share it for another month-ish. Probably not related but I think it'd be smart for the new NBA partner Amazon to have a local or two for each team to be in their stable for content.

When did Dame ever play defense? For BAE money Beal over Dame, because he can play this season.

 

I’d probably bring Beal off the bench as our 6th man.

But yes. I don’t feel like we have great depth at the guard position right now. We clearly need a wing defender but I’m not opposed to Beal on a discount as well. Could be a path to accomplish both.

 

I love Dame but again, we are terrible with injured players. I could see that one year out of action becoming two very easily with our luck.

I wouldn’t be upset if we rolled the dice but he’s down the list of guys I’d be after right now.

 

I get it, it's a risk because Dame is definitely not playing this season. All the guys that suffered Achilles tears, made it back tho, it's the ones that caught an ACL, before or afterwards, that were pretty much cooked. Im wary of the guys, that had back to back, major injuries.

 

Yeah. I wouldn’t complain if we took a gamble on the injured guys that have been mentioned. The last few years have shaken my faith though. Lol

 

Beal can still score he’s an ideal shooter next to Luka.

but he needs to come off the bench where we can use his scoring.at this point he is a 6th man. A Jamal Crawford instant offense. He is the bench player microwave. Pure scorer off the bench. Can’t be a starter. And when he signs that contract before he signs that contract he needs to know he is only a 6th man and that’s all he’s ever going to be.
