I don’t think we are punting. I expect Ayton and perhaps a trade.

But if we did, yeah, that’s no good and will push me firmly into the “go ahead and completely clean house with a new front office” camp.

Also, while I expect Luka to resign, I think punting would send the wrong message. Hes in his prime right now. No need to waste a couple of years of it. Especially when we just finished 3rd in the West. We can compete right now. Don’t squander it.

To me these playoffs how the margins are so narrow now. Lakers looked like crap against the Wolves due the lack of bigs but they gave OKC real problems when they were legit trying as the Lakers wings are so huge.

I mean I would have been honestly ecstatic if they brought in Ayton and Bruce Brown to last year's team

Instead they got worse so far? Brown signed for a minimum, Sharpe for 6 million, lost DFS

I like Larivia and hopeful but realistically this team is worse then last year

To be honest Ayton would be kind of underwhelming. But I get it, better than having Hayes and a bunch of South Bay guys as your center rotation.

I hear you on all of that. I do expect us to make moves though. Including a potential trade.

Will he be that dumb here? He always reminded me of The Chief Robert Parish…the way he moves, hopefully he gets that mentality too if he comes here, if not, f*** him

Ok but what was the plan if Ayton didn’t fall into our lap? The way Trevor and others were talking it was the full MLE to Brook Lopez. Like good lord.. That’s not a plan, that’s horrendous. Even Ayton isn’t THAT good, he has major flaws and his team payed him 25 mil to go away. This is already yet again looking like an offseason with not much of a plan, or backup plan at least, after last offseason where we made zero moves. Like this is the LAKERS, we need to be better run than this, this isn’t good enough. Telling Luka to what, waste 2 years of his career while we wait for maybe another star to be available, that’s awful.

Better teams sign back or sign valuable players so they have contracts to move later. I wouldn’t have kept DFS for 4 years so I get that we let him walk, but at the same time, it’s possible that contract in 2 years is a movable piece. Cap space means little these days for stars, most are staying with their teams. This feels so much like the Jim/Mitch cap space days right now, hoping for Yao, for Melo, for Aldridge, wasting years of Kobe in the meantime. It’s not over yet obviously, but man that thinking just irks me, it’s time to move on to more creative thinkers, people better at this.

I don't believe in this s*** or that Pendrick is reporting that he was cancer in locker room
When he played with Chris Paul he easily average 18 points and 10 boards , he's good dude who loves his family

    Another guy reports.
Despite the fact that Ayton was an easy-going man in the locker room and seemed to enjoy the sympathy of his teammates, management clearly did not consider him a significant figure in the process of rebuilding the team.
So where is his cancer behavior Pendrick?

I have receipts- I don’t want the dude.
    Beggars can’t be choosers.
There’s still a silver lining- Big Baby doesn’t like Rob’s work and demands a trade. At least then, we can get a couple assets that may work alongside Luka and Austin.

Well deals done probably ironing other stuff out.

it was pretty set he was going to the Lakers and all the respective Centers have signed with their teams.

If your Brook Lopez you don’t sign with the Clippers until you know what’s up with the Lakers.

players talk. Ayton deal already done. Lakers should announce it. But they don’t care.

all the reports about Late to flights and practice. All rumors I never heard it.

it all changes here. Ron Artest Lamar Odom Robert Horry Dwight Howard.

    so we’ll see.

Laverndile he was okay on Memphis. Okay on Sacramento. He’s a bench player. Had some real good games on the Kings. 20 point games. Really stretched with threes. Would routinely hit them. Played great with Sabonis.

he good. But Damn that’s alot of money.

hopefully we sign Ben Simmons to.

    what’s up with Chris Paul???

And don’t act like Denthony Melton is a nothing deal. He was playing great with Curry before he got hurt. Local kid USC. Good source of steals. Can really shoot it and play defense.

Oh I actually don’t disagree with any of this. Particularly agree with the thought that we could have traded DFS later and have real concerns about letting him walk for nothing.

Feels like we’ve been preserving cap space for at least five seasons and I think I’ve argued against that approach ever single year. Lol

But I am willing to wait and see what we end up with here. We were third in the west and had two glaring needs. I expect those to be addressed in some form. If not, then again, the new owners should just go ahead, rip the bsndaid off and get their own staff in there.

Hope so on Ayton. One thing is for sure, we know JJ, LeBron and Luka are going to
Demand things of him. Hopefully he can rise to the challenge. Huge opportunity for him to turn around his image here

It's early but this was a brutal day 1 of FA.

-West got better. So that's awesome.

-Luka has an upcoming extension, we're still trying to impress him. Bron just complained to the media. Our response - bye bye DFS and our first signing is LaRavia. That's a day 2, filling in the holes, BAE announcement. That cannot be the first signing the Los Angeles Lakers make today. I like the player, but have concerns about fit with the current makeup of the roster.

-We MUST get Ayton +. Not just Ayton.

-If Rob is GM'ing for his job, the block is warming up. I'm willing to see the vision play out but so far it's BAD.

I'm going to run through player by player comments but wanted to get initial thoughts on today out of the way first.

The 2027 cap space okay come on that’s cap. You have to sign Ayton.

Laruva 12 million that’s so much money.!!!!! Was that needed? Like what was the point of this? You better have Ayton signed. If you don’t sign Ayton I will personally drive Lebron to the airport. Because yes demand a trade because your team is not supporting you.

How is the new owner going to bypass the League Cap rules???
He will build a smarter FO, as well as other departments, but he can’t just sign any player he wants.

For all you ready to do the no credit to Rob thing again like with Luka if Ayton signs and in his contract year here is terrific for us earning himself a longer contract …. he just fell into ole lucky Bob Todd’s lap like Luka ….. isn’t it maybe possible Rob and Luka and Bill Duffy were working on this buyout he was willing to accept …. behind the scenes for some time now wothout having given up talent yet or pick or expirings for the impactful perimeter or Big player or both? Rob playing the same kinds of games as other GM’s?
