With Ayton on the market and a potential fit for the Lakers, wonder if the Ainge family is thinking of calling us back to offer up Kessler for Dalton and a 1st. A big part of his value has been the cost-controlled contract. Every day that passes inches closer to RFA. I'm guessing they'll try to re-sign him around $25M per and he'll hit the trade market ASAP the following year.

 

Jake Fischer on BR's stream also seemingly saying Lopez is a done deal for us, seems to be more of a matter of just how much money he takes up of the exception.

if we somehow came out with ayton, lopez, and melton and only lost DFS, i'd be happy with this.

 

If Ayton doesn't want to come here so be it, nothing we can do about that. But if Ayton wants to come here for the money we can offer and we decide instead to take Lopez...I will not be happy. I get the perspective that we want to retain future flexibility to find another star after LeBron moves on. And I've been lower on Ayton compared to others around here. But a 26 year old #1 pick center that's pretty good but underwhelming, NOT a complete bust, has hit the market and we have to at least give it a shot. If it doesn't work out and next summer we have to move him in order to bring in a better player, just do that.

 

GSW has wanted Horford before, that one makes a lot of sense.

On paper, Horford is a very nice add for the Warriors. But when your 4 critical players will be 37, 36, 35, and 39...that will require surprisingly good health.

 

yeah, not ideal. i think they might be feeling like they can tape it together and surge at the end like last year, but...you're multiplying the odds having that many olds.

A lot of people signaling Lopez to the Lakers. Be interesting to see what the $ looks like on that.

 

i love ayton/lopez because if ayton flakes, lopez is a guy with a ton of big game experience.

 

big fan of his game, particularly for our needs. a few of us mentioned him early on as a tpmle guy coming off his injury.

 

I feel like this is going to happen.

 

If we sign Lopez over Ayton, then Rob needs his Disney pass revoked asap.
