i think he's a sf who can maybe play up to pf in spots (like bojan bogdanovic). there are places in the league for this, just not a great fit with our current squad. luka doesn't need great shooters. he needs great defenders who are passable shooters--because he creates such good looks. my hope is we move knecht for one of those. and the team getting knecht might be thrilled, because like bojan, i think he'll be able to put points on the board, and that has value.
I'm guessing that Knecht for Williams, straight up, no picks..this summer is off the table..lol. Some interesting things, might be happening with player movements this summer. The Williams trade came out of the blue, something else might pop up too.
lol yeah. yeah, that one only surprised me because i thought charlotte wouldn't be interested in moving him. but we may know why...
I was hoping he’d mention how the whole summer he’s working with coaches on the defensive side of the ball and watching film on how to improve there. If Knecht could develop the defensive side of the ball, he can have a 10 year career in LA. If he doesn’t, he’s a situational player on a team with lower ambitions in the mold of a Steve Novak.
yeah, i read that piece earlier hoping for more than platitudes, but whatevs. he's more athletic and versatile offensively than novak, but the way the game is played now you have to be better defensively if you want to play on a winning team. my comp continues to be a smaller but more athletic version of bojan bogdanovic. no shame there; just not what this particular team needs.
I don’t think he’ll play like Novak, but more that he’ll be a 6-7 team journeyman that is known as situational offence. I like your Bogdanovic comp actually, but to give Bojan credit, he’s been a consistent scorer from the jump and averaged 20 in the league. I also agree with you that the NBA has changed from even 10’years ago, if you can’t be a credible player on both ends of the floor, your time on the courts going to be limited.
but he was older and had pro experience before he came here. in his rookie year, he averaged 9 points on 45/36 shooting, at age 25. he didn't crack 15ppg until his age 29 season. i think knecht will likely be a better pro than bogdanovic was. but again, we don't need bogdanovic. somebody else does, though. yeah, this qualifies my last statement. not sure prime bogdanovic is an mle player right now.
