So Gafford is signing a 3 year, $60 million extension. I certainly was not expecting that.

Having a new owner doesn't mean we can just infinitely spend on players given this salary cap and all these aprons. I wish we could get SGA and Wemby too but its not as easy as baseball lol.

On the Portland center situation, I'd rather get Timelord than Ayton.

I guess there's the chance Ayton plays amazing given it's a contract year and he wants to get more money, but we don't need another poor effort player who's soft at the paint and loves his jump shots. Most of the time, he looks like he just loves collecting checks. Dude averages 1 FTA a game, he's terrified of contact. Built like Tarzan, plays like Jane.

Out if the big 4 ideal bigs, Claxton seems to be most realistic. We know this about Brooklyn:
    • They are in tank mode. Claxton helps them win too much.
    • They wouldn't want any large contracts past this season coming back. So only expirings.
    • They have 5 picks in this year's draft.
    • They do have roster spots.
    • They would probably prefer a future 1st over Knecht.
We have the expirings and the future 1st. We could flip Knecht for another future 1st if needed. We could also take back one of their current 1sts or 2nd if needed, in order to even things out.

Can we all agree John Collins isn’t a center? He’s 6’9” 225lbs, so if he’s a center so is Rui

There’s gonna be a lot of sad faces when they see Claxton get pinned under the rim by bigger centers.

Trade Reaves + Kleiber to Dallas for Gafford + Christie. This trade alone, solves most of our problems. Dallas too.

Reaves is worth more than Gafford and Christie. It does make sense fit-wise. But still not worth it, unless you only cared about the next 2 years.

No. Reaves will be the #2 star when LeBron retires. There's almost no way to get another Reaves. It would be hard but possible to get a Nesmith.

What is Portland even doing here? That's such a s***ty move for a team that was finally moving in the right direction

Maybe they are leaning into a defensive identity with Jrue/Thybulle/Camara/Williams, etc. I mean that's 4 first-team all defensive players right there.

Boston's still got a long way to go this summer.

How did Portland give up picks in this deal? Now they're going to overvalue Holiday, shop him and expect two firsts in return for him. Nevermind his salary.

Bane, KD, and Holiday and there's still a week left in June. Yeah, we're in for a wild one this summer.

Jrue was going downhill hard towards the end of the season. Portland traded away more than what they got in trading a younger better version of literally the same player.
This is really expensive way to get some veteran help here. Simons has faults but he's still a legit NBA player about to his prime.

Portland should be keeping young talent, losing and acquiring more assets for the next 2-3 years, since the West is so crowded and they probably don't even make the playoffs and have no chance to go deep. Then trying to win starting in 3-4 years when some West teams start to slide or fall out of playoff contention. GSW, Clippers, maybe Nuggets, etc. There could be a chance at a top 4 seed in a few years, but not now.
