I know it's too early to make a definitive claim, but where do we see this guy's ceiling as of right now? His biggest goal should be to develop a consistent jump shot. Do that and you are going to have a career. Personally from the improvement I've seen and his killer work ethic, I think he's at least going to be a serviceable starter in this league. What about you all?

Is he capable of being an Avery Bradley? Reggie Jackson? What about a Bledsoe? Flashes of a taller, more athletic Lillard?

I still see a lot of Monta in him. A scorer with some point guard skills. They'll shape Russell into more and more of a point guard with his passing ability and let Clarkson be the guy running around scoring the ball. He seem like a better teammate version of Monta to me.

That's a good comparison. More athletic than Monta too. Mostly because of his height? I want him to be a better shooter than Monta. If he gets a Trevor Ariza 3-point shot down, he's going to have a career.

Just his function as a slightly undersized SG, but able to get to the rim at will and get his shot off at any time. I definitely expect there to be more growth but right now he looks like Monta to me.

Haha I meant he's more athletic than Monta because Clarkson's taller. But yeah I agree he's an undersized SG who likes to slash.

If he's Monta right now that's pretty awesome. Monta put up some borderline All-star numbers not too long ago.

He sure as hell looks it in Summer League. I'm kind of glad Russell is going to need developing because I want Clarkson in real game situations as much as possible (and that means with the ball in his hands).

I feel like with Russell developing, he may not start. That means we'll start Clarkson and possibly Swaggy or Lou. I know we have the Room exception but I doubt we get a starter-caliber player with that.

I'd be shocked if the plan was to start Russell. I want him to see 15-20 min a game nonetheless.

One thing I've noticed about clarkson this SL is that he's way better defensively. Getting blocks, steals etc

Ellis isn't a bad shooter for the number and difficulty of shots he takes. He's a career 45% shooter. Same as Kobe and Carmelo. He's not a great 3 point shooter but I wouldn't call Ariza one either. Checking the stats Ariza is barely a better 3 shooter career wise over Monta. If we're picking 3 point shots to be like I pick Korver

I'd be ecstatic if he ended up like Monta.

I see the Monta comparison but I think he's much more dynamic and eventually will be, if he's not already, a more complete player.

I see more of a Westbrook comparison.. Strong, athletic, Killer instinct, SG that can play PG.

I think hes already better than Bradley and more efficient than jackson. Doesn't shoot as well as lillard but is a better passer.

He's not on Monta's level yet. Monta was a prolific scorer and a great passer. Right now I'd say Clarkson is a better rebounder but that's about it.

I love the strength that Jordan put on.

Not only did he improve his game, he improved his body to add another dimension to his skills. Now instead of bouncing of guys in the paint and losing it, he's initiating the contact, absorbing it, and finishing through it.

    Excellent from JC.

He will not be as good as Westbrook or close to Westbrook. Westbrook is arguably the best player in the NBA. He was absolutely sensational this past season and I have never seen a PG dunk the heck out of the ball and finish at the rim with the same consistency and ferocity as Westbrook.

Never been a fan of his but if Clarkson is anything close to Westbrook, that would be a miracle to me.

Yeah I meant 3-point shooting. Monta is a career 31.4% shooter while Ariza is 34.8%. Ariza didn't even shoot 3's at all for the first 4 years of his career. And for the last two years, half of his FG were 3-pointers (>400 3PA both years!).

Yes getting a Monta Ellis level player would be tremendous...he's not there yet but the progress is encouraging.

Westbrook is not the best player in the nba. I watch him a lot since ucla, the guy is an athletic beast at his position, but is super anti team play, he was averaging a triple double bc he had the ball 120% of the time playing every min. He's a glorified stat stuffer! Big time ball hog, clarkson at least plays team ball

Yeah, Westbrook is a very special player. He's an athletic freak that can do just about anything on the basketball court. He also has that killer instinct and ferocity that Kobe used to have.

Clarkson is a very different player. I'm hoping he can develop into a smart and efficient team player. I don't want him to end his career as an one-dimensional scorer like Ellis.
