the more i thought about this, the more i wondered if this is just more of our inability to make shots. if we post the smalls, they just plant rudy in the paint and dare us to shoot threes.

The Warriors beat the Wolves mostly without Steph and we rolled out a defense where we leave everyone open on the first game....

I mean dude, that Warriors team has been playing together for many years now. This Lakers team was assembled in a few months.

It was an imperfect Lakers team but we were hoping Luka+Reaves+LeBron's greatness would be enough.

Unfortunately, it wasn't. Part of me believes the Lakers underestimated the Wolves and thought the Warriors/OKC were their biggest problem.

That Warriors team is tough to beat because those dudes all know their roles. Lakers? Not so much. It was just watch the Lakers Big 3 try and make something happen. Easier to gameplan.

JJ is like Pelinka , he can talk with great confidence and with "I know everything and I'm always right" type of attitude all day long but they have no idea about what it takes to win in the playoffs .

It's a huge upcoming season, for the both of them. We might pull a Denver type of move, if we don't win big.

rob needs to get jj a center good enough to overpower his urge to play small all the time, imo. then we can see what's what.

I have doubts long term about JJ because I think he will always prioritize as a coach what he was as a player : A 3pts shooter

Which isn't a bad mindset to have... Let's just call it what it is, the Lakers were top 3 heavy and needed a big.

Luka and Bron were working way too hard to create for others without a true big out there. Gotta have some inside presence.

I don't blame JJ at all. I thought he did his best with a huge glaring hole in the middle. Who was going to stop Randle and Naz Reid? No one.

yeah, if you have to play small on the back line, you can't have slow guys on the perimeter like we do. something had to give, and jj really had zero options, imo. this is why my wish list for the summer consistently contains a mobile back line defender and a very quick POA defender.

I’m still pissed about how horrible he was in the playoffs. If I’m a free agent, the lack of usage he had for his players would give me great pause. Not playing your players not only hurts their confidence, but messes up their earning potential in the future.
