i agree with sirron that intentionally playing to miss a matchup is lame. but i can still hope for easier matchups as a fan. the tougher the series, the longer it goes, the more likely a key player can get injured--and that's what determines basically every nba champion these days: who's still standing.

I think you can make a fair case that each of the Nuggets, Clippers, Warriors, Wolves or Grizzlies are a good or bad matchup for us. Even the Grizzlies, who seem to be the consensus least dangerous of that bunch, have talent, size and athleticism. They might be the most beatable, but I wouldn't call them an "easy" matchup by any means.

i think the recency effect of just denver and memphis not playing well going into the playoffs is probably what impacts my judgment. everyone else has been winning a lot. but yeah, everyone's record is nearly identical for a reason.

For the Lakers to win in the playoffs they have to have Bron, Luka and AR all have good/great games, limit sloppy turnovers, limit 2nd chance points AND have at least 1 or 2 bench players hit open shots.

Every team has some form of advantage on the others. We suffer from lack of size which means like the paperclips with Zu will be tough. But in the end, who is stopping our 3-headed (nearly) triple-double monster? Play smart and we beat any of them even OKC

Yeah it's interesting to think who doesn't want to face the Lakers in the other direction. Which is basically everyone? Thinking through this a lot of us don't like the Clippers matchup but man I don't think Lue likes the idea of going against Luka again. The Wolves hell no after last year vs Luka as well. OKC completely looked mortal against LA

I think GS is the one that probably not overly concerned with the Lakers versus the rest of the West but they probably want to avoid Houston if anything so hopefully they try to get out of that 6th spot

I hate to say it but Steph has been outrageously good but I don't see GSW too far as their offense falls apart if isn't Jimmy or Steph shooting

Had our boys shown up in G1 in LA, tonight’s loss would have been a non-issue.

Need to talk about this. f*** the refs. Officiating was criminal.

How dare Austin put his face in the way!

Austin is a good passer, but if he's learned how to curve the ball on a bounce like this then he needs to star in The sequel to this film
    [IMG]

The fact they let this go on for two consecutive trips up the court. Full court. This is not at the line of scrimmage in a NFL game. Refs should have gotten control on this the first time it happened.

Gobert is dirty POS. Bron doesn't usually go off like this, but Rudy is universally one of the most hated players in the league.

In the year of our lord 2025, they pull this camera out of their a**?! Where's this been like ever? They going to use this every game now?

Isn't this the tech they stole in Fast 7?

    Saved the best for last

    Impeding one's path with your f***ing feet isn't a foul, I guess

Or is it?... just after the fact, right?

What the purpose of this report?
refs barely get fine ,fans got pissed, and those missed fouls wouldn't matter anyway

even my friend who's a semi-wolves fan thinks the officiating has been a bit weird in this series.

i guess they're overcorrecting for the fans who think they rig things for the lakers, and maybe they don't want luka and lebron just shooting fts all game. but you're actually losing a ton of interest in the second round of the playoffs because you decided to allow a wrestling match instead of a basketball game. do you realize how many folks would have tuned in for gs/lal?!

i just can't believe i'm once again living in fear of a clippers/C Bags final. at this moment, it feels like the most likely outcome. somehow those two teams who each only have like 8 nba players each (and each has one who's been at death's door for years and never dies) will make it through the playoffs healthy against deeper, younger teams, some of whom have better stars!

I'm not sure the Clippers get out of the first round, let alone the conference. They're 2-2 with Denver having home court, I actually lean very slightly toward Denver winning in 7. They're probably outplayed Denver across 4 games, but this is still a James Harden lead Clippers team we're talking about. They'll find ways to lose.

I'm also not sure they're a good matchup for OKC, to beat OKC I think you need wing-sized playmakers like Luka and Lebron. That's never really been Kawhi's forte, he's more of a pure scorer that makes basic reads when help comes, and at this stage of his career I think Harden could really struggle with their perimeter defenders. I think its going to be OKC/Minnesota in the WCF which would be pretty entertaining, with the winner unfortunately probably getting the C Bags.

i think gs beats minny by executing our game plan better than we can (mostly because their role players make shots).

i'd argue the clips have exactly the kind of guys okc can't guard. harden's poor man's luka and kawhi requires a double team. and they're a good defensive team with some options to bother SGA.

okc would be favored, but i'm just still not sold on their dominance, much like cleveland (who i'm REALLY pulling for!).

man, if silver gets minny or okc vs. cleveland in the finals, he'll go full-on wrestling fix next year. part of why i expect boston in there.

Warriors beat Wolves because Randle won't have it easy against Green but man the Warriors are SMALL

Wolves might win if they play Reid 30-32 minutes a game but they still don't get it enough with Gobert
