If it was an open secret that it was THT or Caruso, that reinforces the point that it was an ownership decision. Only reason to choose between one over the other is $$$ and Jeanie was being cheap.

That still didn't dictate which one was chosen.

i think it was more klutch than miami -->

this was all in the klutch days. they yielded lebron and AD (yay!) and a bunch of bad ideas (THT, nunn, russ, etc.).

rob's responsible for riding with klutch, and he got a ring out of it and has--i think--now extracted himself from that mutually beneficial relationship and landed a generational talent to build around for the foreseeable future.

i guess you could fire him because he didn't trade dlo and three firsts for jonas valanciunas or jerami grant or something.

...or you could be impressed with him pulling multiple rabbits out of very tiny hats. and give him an extension.

Yes, yes it did. $30million is significantly more than $10million to a family business. I'll always hate the decision, but it really was money driven.

Besides, weren't you the one always downplaying Caruso's impact back when he played for us?

tht was 3/30. caruso was less in total cash. nunn was 2/12 with a PO, iirc. so in comparison to nunn, caruso's deal was more expensive. still...wow...just a huge whiff.

again, two things can be true: rob made a poor choice AND rob didn't have to make a choice if ownership wasn't cheap.

    HE MOST CERTAINLY WAS.

Not sure if you guys saw Caruso’s impact in game three but they were down big in the first half. OKC was able to overcome the lead, partly because Ja got hurt, partly because Chet got hot, and more so that their defense, spearheaded by Alex, completely shot down anything Memphis wanted to do.

I knew about Caruso, before any of you cats ever heard his name.

Side text Luka right now, and tell him you got his back with the wand moves you can make this summer. Please Rob. This personnel aint it. 3 seed or not, clearly not a team that’s going far.

Our role players have honestly not shown up in any meaningful way in all 3 games. Recipe for disaster.

I’m not sure what you guys were watching. The playoffs are really about a handful of plays per game.

Goodwin had a steal as soon as he entered the game, had a block where we secured possession and forced a jump ball on a 3 vs 2 situation that we won. Brought tons of energy.

Vando brought lots of physicality, and created a few turnovers and played some hard nosed defence that resulted in him getting a defensive rebound.

DFS underpinned our whole defence and was key in our come back in the second. He also boxed out like a beast and hit 2 threes.

Gabe hit a huge three and generally bought energy.

The problem wasn’t our role players, it was that Luka was terrible. Rui was poor and our main ball handlers had 15 odd turnovers.

Reaves needs to be a bit better, his 3’s masked his off finishing and turnovers. Luka needs to be a whole lot better, they hunted him in the 4th to great effect and was game.

Vando effort on def is there but hes not actually effective on that end at all, n 1 on randle after a team made a basket, gets def reb loses it and gives up another n 1, rui just non existent, he had a block or 2 but he really wasnt guarding any 1 well...yes Luka sucked but he was sick so im not sure how to point all the blame on him
