Luka Doncic Discussion: Playoff Luka Engaged

i think it's possible for more than one person to be at fault. one thing that people new to this mavs drama need to understand is that there are probably some good reasons to clean house there--when you have these two-decades long dynamics, they can take on power you don't intend/want.

iow, i think nico had a right to feel insecure there. having mcmahon generate hit piece after hit piece being fueled by the dismissed employees almost supports the point, right?

nico's also right that the timing of the casey smith complaints is pretty...fortunate...for critics of the organization.

anyway, i'm once again not siding with harrison nor suggesting that trading luka was smart. i just think it was fortunate (for us) clash of cultures and interests.

You can't claim competency and also unaware of Luka's significance to the fanbase. Just can't do it.

 

note that where the audio cuts off in the one clip about not being fired, he starts talking about his relationship with dumont. the answer is plain as day, imo. he and the new ownership group bonded over a philosophy and decided luka wasn't in line with it. then they made a very bad choice based on this. after that choice, a lot of what they did (not telling anyone about the choice) actually makes more sense to me.

 

This was exactly what I heard leaked out on a couple of forums I was on for the Mavs. At first all that we heard was there was something seriously wrong with Luka that wasn't being told to the media and that he was about 270 pounds and completely a train wreck. Then, the stuff in that article started getting leaked out within a week or two of the trade. That's when I got fed up with the Mavs. It just looked like a total power trip by Nico. Once Lindsey left Nico has made nothing but bad moves.

That franchise is a train wreck at this point. Not entirely sure I buy the part with Kidd being mad at Nico and skipping the presser due to that. It could be but who knows.

 

That my friend is why there aren't really many left. There are a lot of fans who have switched teams or stopped watching the NBA all together. Some are still hanging around waiting to see what happens next. They are having trouble giving away tickets.

 

How do you guys like Playoff Luka? lol. He came out ready to play.

Too much Gobert hunting to end the game. Luka can go at NAW, Randle etc

I generally feel like if a dude is hot on offense like Randle make him work on defense. Luka to his credit can go at anyone so use that in more diverse manner. He's a good enough passer that he can exploit when Gobert rotates out to protect the rim

 

I like the Gobert hunting. It draws in the energy from the crowd. Seemed dead at times. The rest of the Lakers have to step up. Luka is doing his part. Quiet game by LeBron/Reaves. They did just okay.

 

Luka is winning playoffs games in 1st quarters ..

I'd like him to take these open "floaters" in the paint in the 2nd half but it might be cause of tired legs and/or the will to involve his teammates more

 

I think the Gobert hunting is to take him out of the equation at the rim , both as a rim protector and as a rebounder

 

Yeah the bad news for the Lakers is both Bron and Reaves struggle to get good shots against Sota as ball handlers , this is why you have to run more off ball stuff for them .

Some of these AR 3s felt rushed because it was like " I'm finally open , let's shoot it quick"

 

What was funny is that Temu Jeff Daniels did listen to Luka and subbed him out after that.


He's in good company with both these achievements

 

he's been the least of our worries, unsurprisingly. but he did look a little gimpy at one point down the stretch. hopefully, it was a momentary issue.

 

Gobert has been awful on the glass and on offense. They end up going with Reed and Randle which helps their offense a ton IMO.
Anyways keep running plays they're expecting the matchup hunting so go after matchups they aren't prepared or god forbid keep running plays on offense

 

He might top that before this series is over

 

It's just that he's so disgustingly fat. I can barely even look at him without getting dry heaves. My dear Lord man, don't you even care about your health?!
