I watched the Avengers movie with the fam. It was fine, but not one you go home and think about or share with others. it was entertaining, but Marvel movie new releases is kind of like being the first coach after Phil Jackson, or the first shooting guard after Kobe Bryant. Nothing is going to compare to the golden era of hero movies.
These days it seems my TV to movie ratio keeps leaning heavier on the TV side. The sheer amount of content and quality... these are often the kind of projects that would've been movies 20-30 years ago but the mid-budget movie is all but flatlined in today's IP/ known commodity driven studio system. This isn't one of those shows that would've been a movie, but in the subject of TV/Film, had to rant a bit. All that to say...The Pitt. If you're not watching, then start. Season finale is tonight. It's my favorite show currently airing (if this was June, then it'd be #2 to The Bear). It's a Noah Wyle led emergency room show on HBO Max. It's ER meets 24 in that it takes place in real time and represents a 15 hour shift in a Pittsburgh ER. It's phenomenal. He's so comfortable in the skin of an ER doctor, doesn't miss a beat. Episode 13 should earn him an Emmy. Season 2 is already filming and will be out in Jan. This isn't one of those shows we have to wait 3 years between seasons. Hopefully this has an ER kind of run.
I just watched Bright Blue River on Peacock. Really enjoyed it. I'm from Pennsylvania, so it was a nostalgia fest for me. Amanda Seyfried is from 28 miles from where I grew up, and there's a lot of authentic PA stuff in it. But the story is really fascinating, with lots of twists and turns.

Can't go wrong there. Breaking Bad, in my book, is the best show of all time. BCS was incredible too. Probably the most impressive spin off i can think of. If you haven't watched Ozark yet, check that out. It's not Breaking Bad but is as close as I've seen since. In the 2020s, I've really enjoyed: - The Bear - Succession - White Lotus I think those are in their own top tier group. After that, depends on what you're into but the rest of the not ranked best (according to me): - Taylor Sheridan universe-- Yellowstone, 1883, 1923, Mayor of Kingstown, Landman, Tulsa King, Lioness. I've dug them all. - Reacher - Jack Ryan - The Boys - Gangs of London - Fargo - Billions (although best seasons were in the 2010s) - From - Shrinking Only one season, but I'm in: - Last of Us - Fallout - The Gentlemen - The Agency Just started The Studio. Next binge is Severance.
It sure was. Love a good Ritchie movie when he's just not a gun for hire, which he's unfortunately doing more of these days. But the film had some great stuff for Hunnam, Farrell, Grant, and McConaughey. Theo James did a good job headlining the show. Second thing I've seen him -- this and White Lotus S2.
That cast was incredible in the film. Grant was amazing, but so many were good. And the show was really a pleasant surprise.
Just finished a rewatch of Andor in anticipation of season 2 starting later this month. It's outstanding. IMHO it's the only truly great Star Wars since the OT. Yes, yes, I know, Rogue One isn't half bad, but I think it's more of a mess than people want to admit, and in any event, isn't anywhere near the level of the OT. With Andor, though, I can finally love something Star Wars again, unconditionally.
Recently discovered The Mentalist, and have enjoyed that series there was another series that came out with the first season that was kind of a female version that, and liked that one also.
