    Seems similar to what the Grizzlies did with Jenkins. They were interested in promoting the lead assistant anyway, so might as well do it now rather than waiting until the offseason when another team can poach him.

    Personal thoughts about Malone and his hatred of LA aside, this is an insanely stupid move by Denver. Hate him all you want but he can coach.

    i think he just grates on people after a while. rick carlisle's the same way, i think. he's less of an a** in the press, though.

    I don’t know that the Malone firing short term is a good thing for us/other teams. He said the team wasn’t listening to him and watching film apparently, so now they get a new voice and will likely get a boost from that. I don’t like the guy, but I’d prefer to see him and the Nuggets losing and falling apart than trying to right the ship haha. I’d also have preferred to beat him in the playoffs. Now he can always claim he owned us when he was coach, it’s like that stupid Doc Rivers “our starting 5 never lost” thing.

    Don't know many HOFers still in their prime who enjoy such franchise turmoil. Nuggets better be very careful. He's free in two years and will demand out in less than that (with leverage) if they don't get the next coach and front office direction perfect. Or he'll just retire young and go play with his horsies
