The guys just aren't used to playing with a guy like Russell who can get them the ball the way he can. I expect to see quite a few passes bouncing off hands, etc before they get used to playing with him. He definitely could have had around 10 assists tonight.

    - said that many guys were rusty including himself
    - too many guys including himself were trying to do too much and play other peoples roles
    - mentioned his backcourt mistake and getting caught ball watching on defense when he was beat back door on some plays because he could get away with that on the college level.
    - mentioned his turnovers and how he just needed to be a little more conscious of the defender going for the ball.
    - says they'll be a lot better next game and moving forward because right now the coach through a lot of plays and information at them

He sounded really mature and you could tell he processes everything good and bad that is happening out there. really mature and smart kid. I was really impressed with his interview post game along with Randle's

I hope you do get to watch it because I don't know if my recap does him justice.

I've seen enough of Tarik Black to say we now have FOUR talented young pieces instead of three (Russell, Clarkson, Randle). All we're missing is a small forward to have a very dangerous starting 5 for years to come (hello KD:cool:).

I just scanned through my DVR of the game now that I'm home. your assessment of Randle is spot on. He's got physical tools but the "feel" isn't there. It's a lot like last year's summer league.

Getting the "feel" for the game is a natural thing most of the time. It's hard to "learn".

One game and there was little chemistry between anyone out there. Clarkson appears to be playing a full speed ahead of all these guys.

Lotus Flower is just overthinking right now. The game will come to him as he gets more minutes.

I thought his feel for the game was perfect. At the start of the game until he went out for his first sub, he completely controlled the pace of the game. He had moments after that, but did take a little bit of a backseat compared to his start. I liked that he didn't try to force things. Had the attitude I wanted to see: one summer league game, get in there, work on things, get people involved, play another game tomorrow. Other than his passing, his feel for the game is what I was most impressed with. His shot looked pretty good. He got in the heart of the defense a few times. Got lost on defense a few times, but those are things he can correct (cheating, looking away).

by "feel" I mean things like spacing, understanding where the defense is rather than just the guy in front of you and playing off the ball.

He's got a lot of physical tools but so does just about everyone else at this level. I'm going through right now and watching him on every play. When the ball is off his side of the floor he's got no feel for where the play is going. It's an innate thing. Clarkson for example is always moving toward the play and always seems to be moving to open spaces and just moving in general. Randle makes contact with his man and waits for the ball to come to his side of the floor and that's about it right now. Most of the shots he put up on the paint were short or heavily contested. Against starters in this league they might not ever get to the rim.

He's an inexperienced player but at the same time he also seems content to try and use his physical tools alone. We'll see. I hope I'm wrong but I think he's going to struggle.

Clarkson however looked like he was a 5 year vet playing with a D league team out there. Russell also is ahead of the rest and it was his first pro experience.

Are you describing Randle or Russell here? That's not what I saw from Randle, but I did see it from Russell. Randle was indeed disappointing overall, but I didn't expect much more than that, rust was bound to be there.
