No, it doesn't require a ton of confidence, but still. Giving 2 years guaranteed to a 2nd rounder before one summer league game has been played? We don't have to do that, we don't even have to give him 1 full year guaranteed like we've done in recent history, many guys have had to work until a certain date to earn the "guaranteed" label. What if he's garbage in summer league and can't even hang with D-league and rookie talent? Makes me scratch my head is all. Maybe we had a scout watching every single game he played last season lol.
Because we have the cap space now. We won't after signing Russell and Nance. And Russell won't be playing in summer league until his contract is signed. And since Brown needs to be done before Russell for cap reasons, he gets done now too
Yeah that extra 200K or whatever it came out to ended up being enough to get him for the third year non-guaranteed. It's more or less a minimum contract so there's very little risk. That extra year though definitely shows some confidence in him. I like it.
Anthony "Crazy Eyes" Brown, lesser known skill, freezes charging defenders in their tracks with a quick flash from his crazy eyes into theirs. Then bricks the open shot.
Cmon now...no need to get too down on him guys. It was one game, his first actually. He still went 4-8 for 9 points. If anyone disappointed me today, it was Julius.
I'm just having some fun, we have a long way to go before seeing what he can bring. First "NBA" game, can't judge much off that at all, we've got 2 years to evaluate him. If he can come in now and then, knock down 3's, play some D, he's useful at that price. Can't be worse than Wes Johnson.
Nothing about Brown stood out except his three ball was a bit off, and he seems to have great length and knows how to use it on D.
Everything about him screamed average, but intelligent. That's a perfect role player. The problem is that his shot was falling. If he makes a few more of those wide open threes he kept getting, we'd have won this game. Still he's a cerebral player and he doesn't make a lot of mistakes. He's got a good SF body. I'd like to see him more active though. Play the lanes a bit, be aggressive defensively.
Am I the only person who was more impressed with Nance than Brown? Sure Nance had more fouls than a chicken farm, but he was athletic, active and aggressive.
No. A. Brown reminded me of a shorter Devin Ebanks. That's not a compliment. Reminded me of him in that neither could dribble, and both move kinda awkward almost like in slow motion or not comfortable in their own body.
He reminded me of Wesley Johnson as well in the sense that you don't notice him on the court. They don't affect the game and so you forget about them. They don't negatively affect the team nor do they positively affect the team. They are just there as another body to put on the court. I had high hopes for Anthony Brown since he shot the 3 pointer really well in college but he didn't really do that in the first game so I'm going to hope it was just first game jitters or something and that he plays better.
