JJ Redick should be Coach of the Year unanimously. I know that Atkinson is likely gonna get it for the job he's done in Cleveland...but man, the amount of changes and injuries that we've had to endure and JJ has righted the ship all year...it's a phenomenal coaching job from him and his staff. I think JJ is going to be the next great NBA coach with a hall of fame coaching career. Him injecting confidence into Dalton as well in front of the whole group...that's how you lead!!! And Dalton went off the next game when we most needed him to - and I'm going to give JJ direct credit for that one as he probably got Dalton's confidence way up from just that one comment.
All of our returning players that are getting playing time are improving. The coaching staff is walking JJ’s talk about the focus on developing our young talent.
Thank God. That was my main fear. We appear to be off the coaching carousel though which is a really good thing. JJ is doing a really good job and, maybe more importantly, the front office believes in him. We look to be set there. Maybe Jeannie has her old man's eye for talent afterall.
I don't think enough voters will be willing to admit that the hire has worked out for him to be able to get it which is a shame as he has done well. Oh well, guess we will have to just settle for a championship.
…. and Harrison “gifted” him Luka. Who “couldn’t” win with Luka and LeBron (ignoring his age Of Course) in their starting lineup?
honestly, winning COY is kind of a death sentence these days, anyway. my theory is that the guy who gets it almost always has overachieved his roster talent, and regression to the mean happens for things outside the coach's control. i'd like to see the stats on how many COYs are fired within three years (vs. non-COYS). you'd expect the rate would be lower, but i bet it's the same or even worse, lol.
Yeah I actually wrote that and paused, thinking about deleting it. It sure looks like that position is not premium in his system. Anyone who can guard the perimeter, roll to the basket and rebound some would suffice. I'm at a point where I fully trust JJ and the staff to make the best decisions, and roll with it
That was a great play. A whole team involved, timely passes, so simple yet so effective. We can get that exact play every game... more than once if we want to
The only other team that has that type of movement is at The Bay. As Lantz says "you can't outrun the ball!"
This is why I get annoyed with the frequent comments after a loss where the opponent was just on fire from behind the arc that we just mailed in the effort, didn’t compete and the usual bashes. Often the ball’s being swiftly and smartly passed to those guys …. it’s not that there wasn’t effort trying to get to them to defend the shots.
people underestimate how much of an impact a good coach can make. Imagine we had JJ during the WCF run?
