For me, the beer is a non-issue. But the hookah has got to go. Reminds me of Vlade smoking in the locker room at halftime.

I really do hope he gets more serious about his health in that regard though, would hate to see his career shortened for any of those reasons

So … you don’t smoke “hookah”. It’s a generic term for a water pipe. Wonder what his choice of the actual ingredients is. Nothing is really good for an elite athlete of course. If the beers are this brand what’s the problem? ;)

if lebron can't motivate him to start taking his body and conditioning seriously, then he's a lost cause

harden basically lived this way during 10 years of high productivity. and luka just had a kid pretty recently.

i don't think he's ever going to show up ripped like everyone's hoping, but i think this stuff is getting pretty overblown. right down to the dissection of every defensive play involving him.

you'd think lakers fans would be used to this, but, like kobe before him--opposing teams' fans hate this guy. because he kills them. over and over. he kills them whilst drinking beers and "smoking hookah". he kills them while not being laterally quick. he's going to keep killing them for a while, and nothing "catastrophic" is coming based on what people are saying.

you'd think he had a heroin habit the way people talk about it.

That over the shoulder no look to Austin camped out behind the arc was unreal. It’s one thing to try that pass, and yet something completely else to have it right on the money, guided into Austin’s shooting position like it was on a tractor beam!
I’ve honestly never have seen anything like it- not even from Magic.
Sure, the dude will never be on the cover of “Fitness” magazine, but he’s a top three player without it.

Kobe and LeBron drank wine… let Luka have a few beers. Guy dropped 19/15/12/3/2 in a bad game, getting his feet under him after an injury and life changing trade. It’s all a bit of an overblown joke.

This is all hilarious. Yeah, MJ was never touching booze or tobacco during the season. Who gives a bleep? And it's not lost on me that he's eastern European. He grew up basically in the same area as Vlade Divac who would rip heaters at half time and still balled out. Different way of life. Kukoc had wine before games. Who cares?

Im pretty sure drinking/partying/diet is somewhat of a problem. He gained bulk and not the good kind. Also when Micheal Finely took out the beer out of his hand was really telling. A vet taking beer away during a WCF decison?

A lot of us grew up being binge drinkers or at one point was or still is durin highschool, college, or what not. Thats what I'm seeing from all the clips (I was intrigued why they traded him away for a couple of bucks and some change). But That was really telling.

I hope its overblown, but a vet like finely taking away a beer from an honest celebration was weird. It aint a FO or Owner doing it, its a Vet that most likely sees a problem.

I'm not saying hes alcholic, could be that finely just didnt want him to be hung over and stay focused, but correct me if im wrong there was plenty of time for him to recover between the WCF and finals.

Its completely overblown as an excuse for the trade, but just wanted to say my 2 cents from the clips ive seen.

but with those numbers on a bad game i cant wait for the numbers on a GOOD game.

Yes, this is the thing too. If there were more asian players theyd also come across players with drinking and smoking habits as its embedded in most cultures.

The fact is where is the science? Yes, generally its better and i think Luka Should be more cut but making a player stop doing these things isnt really going to prolong their prime. From all the players an history its a lil luck and based on the individuals physique

Kobe, LeBron, and MJ were all ripped and in phenomenal shape. I get that Luka is our player and we want to defend him, but I don’t see anything wrong with wanting him to get more serious about his body to play as long as he can. If Kobe were overweight and struggled to run up and down the floor at times I’d have said he needs to get in better shape too. Yeah, it’s not that serious, and I’m sure some of us do the same things, but we don’t get paid hundreds of millions of dollars to play a game, literally like half of his job is to take care of his body. Anyway, cool photo

Why Jokic never been accused of drinking beer ?
Porter Jr. said that over the summer, Nikola Jokic told him that all he did was drink six beers a day in Serbia. Despite Porter Jr. thinking that the two-time MVP didn't touch a basketball, he still feels that Jokic got even better as a player this year.

"Then he goes back-to-back MVP. Now, how is better this year, after we just won a championship? You go back to Serbia, I was just talking to him, 'Brother, I was drinking six beers a day.' He probably didn't touch a basketball

Yes it's picture from a few years ago,but we saw him at Olympics too

Someone on the Mavs board was saying it’s AI generated. I have no idea if that’s true.

Edit: looking at the picture I do think it’s faked. Look how clear Nico is compared to the people behind him. Looks like he’s cropped into the picture to me.

Plus he's so young. If it really bites him, it'll be in 10 years. Worst case is Luka is dominant for 8+ years. Come on..

No I think that’s a team photographer. Pretty sure Luka has his arms up to touch the fans hands as he goes by. On another note I didn’t see this posted before

yeah, telling me they were dumb enough to worry about a beer as they just got their a**** carried to the finals. the more i read about it, the more i think it was just a clash of personalities. and again, i think they bet the wrong way.

we argued about this before he was on our team, and i said the same thing.

sure, he could be in better shape, and i think he probably will be next year. but genes matter, and he's not going to be ripped. i also doubt he'll get serious about his body in the way fans want. but this is not a nit i care to pick.

jokic would be better if he borrowed lebron's or kobe's lifestyle (though kobe's early career diet was nothing to be emulated), but that's not him. and being himself has worked for him. we need to let luka be himself. and that's not letting "russ be russ" or somesuch. that's letting a 26-year old guy who's been first team all-nba almost every year of his career decide how to approach the game.

i say all this hoping that walking in every day watching lebron's dedication will rub off on him. he certainly has another gear he can get to, physically. but why let the perfect interfere with the all-time great?

I mean yeah, I’m not gonna harp on this, he’s our player now and he’s incredible, just happy to have him. I will say as far as Jokic goes he’s 6’11, so to me it’s a bit different. He doesn’t really need to rely on athleticism at that size and how he plays, he just shoots over everyone like nothing. Luka is like 6’6, so to me it’s a bit different. The good thing is his game doesn’t rely on athleticism at all, it’s more about gaining separation to get shots off, stopping on a dime, stuff like that, so it’s not a huge deal. I just want to see him be as good as he can for as long as he can, and at a certain point diet and lifestyle start to catch up to you, the top of the top of the great ones are usually those that knew this and really invested in their bodies over the years.
