If I was them I would have gone after a guy like Lavine - they're loaded with interior defenders and needed more offense to counter a defense like Boston. Luka put up those numbers and was guarded by Tatum, Brown, White, and Jrue while playing with a hampered knee. Two all-NBA defensive players on that team. kyrie didn't show up and quite frankly, no one on his team did. C Bags are stacked at the guard/wing position so Luka alone wasn't going to beat them.

Let's see the C Bags try that against Luka+Bron+Reaves.

I respect OKC, but I don’t fear them I’ve watched some of their games and to me their offense is very reliant on SGA getting to the line. He does that really well, but I don’t think that’s going to work as well in the playoffs. I’m not sure that Jalen Williams is a legit #2 option on a championship team. They’re also a below average team shooting the three ball, which I also think may come back to bite them in the playoffs.

 

I think we know why Luka got traded. Dallas had some misgivings about Luka's fitness and his defense, and he was soon to be eligible for a supermax. But rather than figuring out how to get him in the gym, Dallas' front office did something dumb and impulsive. It happens. End of story.
