we really talking about durant? why do we want him when we have 2 budding superstars in d'angelo randle
To clarify, if you were serious: Russell = PG, Clarkson = SG, Randle = PF. Hibbert if he has a good year and we keep him, is a C. Durant is a SF. There's no conflict anywhere, he fits right in to our biggest need and is one of the best players in the NBA. My only concern would be his foot issue, but if that doesn't appear as a lingering issue this season like with Rose and his knees, you call and throw a max offer at him at 9:00:01.01 PM on July 1st, 2016.
Because he's an automatic scorer. Because he's a solid guy. Because we could afford him. Because he'd immediately make us championship contenders. Because he could take the baton from Kobe and start another amazing run. Because at the start of his decline, our youngins will be starting to shave and finally have chest hair. Because it immediately disables a Western Conference opponent. Because he's willing to cut my phone bill in half! Dost thou need more reasons?
The number of players I give a crap about who aren't on the Lakers is short: Durant, Curry, and maybe AD. Kobe's a giant. Durant could put his name on Lakers' Rushmore with this core.
I'm thinking the same thing. Our defense should be better. Bass and Lou are also big improvements. I have high expectations for Randle and I think he and Russell will be really contributing by the end of the season.
Good idea. I like keeping Young if we can't find a new 3. If anything, a player like him becomes a more valuable asset come trade deadline when a contender needs a scoring punch off the bench and is willing to pull the trigger for picks.
Washington can get to 40 mil. They will be the team to beat for pulling Durant out of OKC. Young solid core and room to sign a max player and another solid piece. Watch out.
KD seems pretty fond of Donovan already and hanging out with him at summer league. Wouldn't surprise me to not want to bolt on the guy after one year. Seems like he's the sort of guy that would find that very hard to do.
I would not complain about getting Westbrook either, but Durant fits so well because he is a forward, something we'll desperately need.
He's also from DC I think. Their young solid core though is just Wall and Beal. Wall is a superstar, but Beal to me is just an above average player. Gortat is a good piece too. I think we can put up a similarly competitive young group this season (if Russell and Randle step up) and Hibbert can approximate Gortat's value. Our advantages: 1. Durant adores Kobe. 2. The second MAX slot to add more talent. 3. Money to be made. 4. Our team is almost perfectly suited to a superstar right now. We've got three young bucks, but they're probably 2-3 years from being outright stars. Usually that's a bad thing, but we've got solid veterans too in Hibbert, Williams, Bass, and we'll see what happens with Nick. We came out of this summer alright, but not perfect. I'm hopeful we see a couple more moves this season that really just make the fit for a superstar easy and smooth.
