Christian Wood has been a non factor during his tenure with the Lakers and has not played at all this season. The guy hasn’t played a game in a year for us so I don’t quite understand the logic in keeping a guy who has just been sitting on the bench.

He's big, physical, and good for 6 fouls in 9 minutes on nights we face Joker, Zu, Embiid (if he ever plays again), Adams, Poeltl, Edey, Vuc.

He wasn't my top choice, but the options were rather limited especially with Theis opting to leave for the Euroleague and be closer to home.

Len is not taking anyone's minutes and is likely a 3rd string/Jax committed too many stupid fouls kind of option.

What does Luka have to do for him for us to celebrate Lensanity? Triple his scoring average this season? That's doable.

Bron also has someone new to pick on in practice

He isn't very good, but it's whatever. Insurance big on the cheap. Maybe he surprises...

On the contrary ,I think you should take the move as a commitment to small ball .. Len and Hayes are just" insurances" for the regular season .
This is the way I understand it

JJ will get small in the playoffs , no doubt about it

I like it. We were never going to find a starter in the buyout. So we went plan B and got a player who serves a need. In games where we are being physically outmatched, he can go in and help us. He's also a solution against Jokic, Sabonis or Gobert, which we lacked in our roster and may face in the playoffs.

    Good job

Lol...AD is going to smoke our bigs, we're going to have a problem with Gafford and Lively as it is. Dallas is the one team I'd rather avoid. I'd rather face Jokic.

Mavs may not make the play-in with all their injuries and even if they make it to the playoffs , we won't face them ( a 2nd seed vs 7th seed matchup between these 2 teams is unlikely)

I don't see anything saying the Mavs have some season ending injuries.
There is no garuntee that we get the 2nd seed or they are a playin team. We'll have to see how it plays out, but I'd rather play Denver than Dallas.

lively has a stress fracture in his ankle, so he'll be out a while. AD will be out a while, gafford will be out a while, and martin, i believe, will also be out a while.

i think they're in real danger missing the play-in.

It's two months left in the season.
Lively is supposed to be back at the end of the month, Gafford in 2 weeks, AD in 3. Martin? With a hip injury, he might be any kind of factor at all. I don't know what's going to happen, but even if we were the 1st seed, and they were 8th...I'd rather not see Dallas in the playoffs. Bring on Denver though

this mavs writer doesn't share your rosy outlook:

i think there's a decent chance AD has surgery, based on some of the tea leaves.

anyway, yes, it would be a significant contrast of roster/playing styles if we played them. weirdest part might be that the guy who would be guarding AD a lot wouldn't be alex len, but rather...lebron!

We'll see..I saw were Lively was supposed to be reevaluated in a month, back on Jan 23. Washington is listed as day to day, and they only have 2 games before the All-Star break. AD is the big question..the media seems to think, he's going to be out potentially forever, whenever he gets hurt. IDK..I wouldn't be shocked, if it isn't as serious as it's being speculated.

Lebron or Rui, on AD, is not a good look. Hayes or Len either.

Indiana signed Okafor for to a 10 day deal. He only played the last three minutes, but he actually looks pretty fit and strong compared to when he was in the league.

Len is better player than Mark Williams. First he isn't injury prone unlike Mark who never played back to back,he can do same thing he can run the floor ,he can rebound, he's very strong and he will cause bigger problems to Jokic if he is going play.I don't know why he didn't play at Sacramento probably because of small ball, but even in this clip you can see that JJ will use him as he were to play Williams.
P .S if Len would play in Charlotte he had same stats as Mark .
Btw Gafford in Dallas is very similar to Len .

Everyone against this signing has to consider what is available in the market.

The trade market is over. There's not many options. The simple fact people are STILL talking about Dwight Howard tells you just how dry the market overall is for a center.

Len isn't a great player but he doesn't have to be. He just needs to come in for 10-15 minutes, guard some bigs, rebound, set screens, and dunk the ball.

It's also the system he is in. He might not have value playing on another team but with LeBron/Luka/Reaves feeding him lobs, his value for the Lakers is much higher than if he were say, playing on another team with no lob threat.

I like this signing. Good move.
