Suppose it's true for the time being that we receive a $4.8M DPE for Nash. Who's your ideal target?

Question: Can we use it in a sign and trade to say, a team who's trying to unload a contract?

Preferably, I'd use it on a more capable starting Small Forward, especially with Swaggy injured, we need another body there, but mostly because I can't stomach seeing Wes starting for the entire season.

Is there a Bruce Bowen or Shane Battier type out there? Deadly spot up 3pt shooter who can defend. We may have to settle on a sf defender that can't shoot or a shooter that can't defend.

How would a S&T benefit another team?

I saw that Chris Babb was being touted as a potential 3 and D player; I think he signed with Boston.

I wonder if Minny is willing to part with Corey Brewer. Not a terrific shooter from outside, but he's a scrappy defender and is 48% from the field.

Currently earns $4.7M, would be an ideal target if we can execute a sign and trade.

Free up cap space, perhaps we throw in a future 2nd rounder or something.

We can trade the exception; we don't have to sign anything in order for it to work. Is that what you're thinking?

Some guys I'd like to at least get a look at:

Toney Douglas, Manny Harris, Darius Johnson-Odom, Eric Maynor, Orlando Johnson, and Daniel Gibson. Not great players, but bodies we could use.

Ah yes, that is what I meant. I don't know what I was thinking...

but yeah, seeing that Minny has Wiggins and Budinger now at the SF spot, perhaps we can send then the DPE for Corey Brewer. He'd fit right into Byron's defense first mindset.

Probably a few options - like these young guys who aren't exactly proven or aren't exactly impressive. Also any currently injured but coming back soon players?

I think Rasual Butler is out there, too.

How does Roscoe Smith look to you compared to those guys. Are some better you think? Odom is a PG right?

I expect the WAND will be put to good use. This is like a gift. Might suck for Roscoe though.

I like Roscoe and in another situation, he might make the team. Nevertheless, we have more of a need for Ellington with Young out presently.

Corey Brewer would be awesome. I suggested Harrison Barnes in the Rumors thread.

I'd want to attempt to trade for Harrison Barnes with it if I didn't think it'd cost us the Houston 1st also.

Harrison Barnes. That would be great.

Man, if the Warriors did that deal everyone would be complaining as bad as they did when we got Gasol.....

I think the Lakers FO are going to be reluctant to take on a contract that extends beyond this season. They know they're not competing for a ring this year, so why not keep the 2015 and 2016 cap room as free and open as possible?

I like Roscoe, but I worry about his effectiveness long-term. If the Lakers don't have machinations to go get another PG, then sure let's give Roscoe a non-guaranteed min-deal. He's a hard working kid and I like his attitude.

Harrison Barnes would command a lot more than the DPE + the Houston 1st. We'd have to include Clarkson or something like that.
