One of them would have to get promoted. I was team Koloko but Jemison has some gangster to him.

I don't understand what happened. Can anyone give an explanation why it was rescinded? By whom? The Lakers or Cha?

Lakers. Multiple areas of concern on the physical. Charlotte tried to hand us off damaged goods.

If this was prior to the deadline passing, trade could be amended to account for those findings. Like: they don't get the 1st, they have to give us Multiple 2nds back, something. But since these findings were made after the options were take it as is or kill it.

So I get the buyout market is slim and we'd have to dump a player to pick one up. Not great. I wonder if there's any kind of timeline on Wood's return.

Also so now we need to revisit a trade for a big this summer. What's the play here? Knecht and two firsts for Kessler? Would Ainge bite this summer?

I hope we push for the nba to give us draft compensation as a penalty from Charlotte. What they did ruined our ability to get a center and potentially our chances this year.

I see him as a solid defensive guy who will average 20+ ppg

hornets fans trying to make it seem like the lakers had buyers remorse on williams and nixed the deal because of it

because i guess pelinka just decided eh, f*** it....we'll go into the playoffs with jaxson hayes as our starting C and not the guy averaging 16 and 10?

We know it wasn’t his back, but due to HIPAA compliance, they can’t really say what it was apparently

    disbelief. Shocked. In denial.

we really needed a big that fit his description, so our path just got a little bit harder.

the williams thing is such a tremendous bummer. and maybe we dodged a bullet (medical team thinks so), but we're in a tough spot now in that we'll have to move players we're actually using if we want a center in return. the beauty of a guy on his rookie deal was that we could avoid weakening one area to strengthen another.

so we're back to two holes on the roster (center and POA defender) with very limited funds to cover it.

in the short term, we're basically screwed. i guess we can cut a vet min and try to add theis (i think we have the room after the luka trade?). that's probably ok, but it may not even happen (think he already has a big offer in europe). forget about guard stuff.

longer term, we have limited funds in the summer and very few center options.

ideal scenario would be capela taking a big cut (we should have tpmle available, i think), but after that FA options get pretty slim given our needs (vertical spacer who can defend and rebound).

we could revisit knecht for kessler, but i think danny would try to extract even more from us than charlotte did, particularly after this mess.

we could look to move kleber with draft assets attached (or, alternatively, hope kleber gets healthy at 33 years old...). there might be some guys available in that price range who can play center for us, but i'd have to scour rosters (e.g., robert williams, but what does our medical team think about him?).

anyway, i guess the williams thing was too good to be true.

What if they have handled the Williams thing in such a way as to leave the door open for next year? Maybe they still want him but have to change the price they are willing to pay?

I guess maybe it’s not a good idea if there are multiple other issues besides his back, but I find myself trying to look at the long-term bright side.

yeah, i could see that. i just think for us to choose this option, it had to be pretty bad, and i'm not sure what changes from our perspective in a few months.

In regard to potentially revisiting Kessler, I totally understand why Ainge would try to get more from us, but is that realistic? With every day that passes, Utah gets closer to being forced to make a decision about him as a RFA. They don't want to get Gobert'd but can't let him leave for nothing. Tea leaves indicate they unsuccessfully tried to get 2 1sts this season. Some of Kessler's value was getting him cost-controlled for 1.5 years. Ainge will try to play hardball, but I'm not so sure he's in a good position right now. Though he may just avoid doing business with us altogether after realizing they participated in the trade that got us Luka.

I'm definitely bummed this fell through in terms of this year's chances, but have to assume the physical was really bad to pull the plug. On the other hand, I'm a little more optimistic about finding a guy for next season. Maybe not our apparent Center of the future, but I figure someone will shake loose. With Kleber's contract and ability to combine with other players after the season, the additional swap and 2nd...maybe we get a nice stop gap without giving up Dalton.

Or maybe Turner tells Indy he's leaving either way, so may as well do a S&T with LA to get something out of the deal. Might be crazy, but after Luka, who knows?

yeah, but remember S&Ts hardcap us at the first apron, which will be about 195. we're pretty close to that with only 10 guys under contract and DFS with a PO. hoping DFS agrees to a longer-term deal at slightly lower money, though.

    I have a question

When summer comes can we add to Kleber to make a trade?

Forgot about that wtith S&Ts. Pivoting...I'm quietly hoping Lebron actually follows through with the suggestion of the pay sacrifice he floated last year. Likely a long shot, but after the move for Luka, maybe he decides it's worth it for a real chance at another ring to tie Kobe and Duncan. A guy can dream.
