He is a rook and will just be glad to be back. Won't get Pau's hurt feelings.

You don't know what he "will be" in the offseason.

That being said, my post is celebrating the kid and wanting him to PROVE he shouldn't be traded. Maybe he does. Maybe he doesn't. It doesn't change the fact that he has a few months to prove himself more.

That is the coaches job to decide what minutes he gets. You guys seem to simply hate on our players for the sake of hating on them. The kid can play the game. We want players who can play the game and play with heart. Maybe he doesn't see the floor. Maybe he sucks a**. Maybe in the summer they ship him for another bench player who won't play.

NONE of that was the point of my post which was I want the kid to get out and show why they NEED to keep him.

Meh..I'm the anti hating on players guy around here dude. However I am pragmatic about roster moves, we need a big, he's expendable, simple as that for me. The situation won't change this summer.

We don’t know what’s going to happen the rest of the season. If the Lakers somehow win a championship or go on a deep playoff run and Dalton proves himself I have a hard time believing they would trade him again.

That all may be true. He may get dealt. But right now, he is back on our team. He plays hard and is a rookie that has a huge upside. Again, my message was simple I want him to play so well, when he gets a chance which he will, that the team doesn't want to trade him.

I agree that overall while I really like Dalton, I wasn’t torn up about the trade because he’s expendable given our current roster construction.

With that said, the situation DOES change this summer. Kleber, Gabe, Rui are all expiring contracts. There may be trades out there for other centers in which we don’t have to give up Dalton.

It would be a nice luxury to be able to continue having him develop in a small role off the bench.

I'm guessing that Maxi is trade fodder, Gabe and Rui...their playoffs performance, is going to be a huge factor, in which direction we go this summer.

In order for us to keep him, he has to improve on defense, specifically court awareness. Right now I'm not sure if he has the necessary bball IQ.

Those are correctable issues and they are not things you are surprised to see from a rookie that has been thrown into the fire.

No, and it's not fair to expect that from a rookie, but we are stacked with quality wings and he is currently the odd one out with the most trade value. If he wants to stay, he needs to prove within a few months that he is worth more than what we get in return.

Again, it's not fair but the clock is ticking.

He already does shoot like he doesn’t give an F. He needs to play defense like he knows what the F he’s doing. :D
