Well, that sucks for Dallas... and AD. And he started the game so well. Complete non-contact injury... he just crumbled during a simple defensive play.

I hope Houston GM is calling that vacuum guy from Breaking Bad right now.

Max Christie 23 points 4-5 from the 3 line

Definitely going to miss him and his defense

Showtime 24 - AR for Dennis??

Are you sure about that 5 minutes???

    It’s ok..they know. Say it. “I may have been mistaken.” ; )

You wanted “context” - I think 45 points provides enough. Exciting stuff.

Dallas fans will have to deal with this every time AD falls down. I know how that feels. Love AD, but I was constantly in fear. I often listen to our radio announcers and I can't tell you how many times it went something like this:

    Mychal, AD is down!
    He'll be fine.
But... he seems to be in pain.
Meh... it's nothing, he'll get up in a second.
AD is not getting up. Uh-oh, he is helped by his teammates. Mychal, they are supporting him and he is walking gingerly.
They are just going to pop that in... he'll be just fine.
We just got the news, Mychal, that AD will not be back in the second half.
    Oh, come on now!

At least now I don't have to listen to this anymore. Again, with all due respect for AD. But I was getting tired of it at some point.

Yeah and AD has played in 174 games, and Luka 156, over the last 3 seasons too. I'd rather stay away from, poking fun or throwing even minor shade, over injuries. Hopefully both guys are healthy and ready to rock and roll by the playoffs.

well, dallas traded luka to us because his injury maybe cost them a ring last year and he'd missed most of this season for a non-incident injury

that said, yes, AD was a source of anxiety. but he was also the primary source of hope, too.

Both AD and Max were only players for Dallas with 20+ points

Max is blossoming this season. Salute! That shot was ugly in his first preseason here. He put in the work, and it's paying off for him. It definitely looks like Kidd has confidence in him already, Max had the ball more than Kyrie down the stretch .

Max has been massively disrespected this last week, lots of people don't even mention him when talking about the trade, but I'm fairly confident he's going to develop into one of the best 3&D guys in the league, especially considering how much he has improved over just 1 year.

in fairness, apparently grimes's agent demanded a trade right after the luka deal. not because dallas wasn't contending, but because they were afraid max was going to take all his minutes in a contract year.

so we weren't the only ones watching.

Yeah, Max really is doing very well. I am happy for him! He should be very good for Dallas. They are acting like they were robbed there, but they got great players in trade. And I know AD actually played a lot of games lately guys, don't get me wrong. But you know what I mean... he would fall down, get out of the game, nearly give us heart attack, and then he'd come back and continue playing. This was happening on a regular basis, even when he didn't miss games. He was actually quite an iron man for a while, but you'd still get worried about him because... IDK... he has low pain tolerance or something.

oh, certainly--this happened when AD was in NO a lot, too. he just gets banged up easily. he left a lot of games without being severely injured. it is what it is.

i don't even know if it's about pain tolerance; i think he's such a unique athlete that mild compromises make him much less effective. like, when he tried to play that game 6 against phx and they just went right at him on offense...like, that's AD. but they were roasting him. injuries hurt but they also just limit your ability to do things.

i remember when i played on some severely sprained ankles--i could play through the pain, but i wasn't me. actually, i played a summer league in hs on a really bad ankle, and opposing coaches scouted our team based on that, and when i was healthy in the following season, i killed them on both ends.

was that story to puff myself up about junior varsity achievements? yes.

but it was also just to say that being able to cut violently and explode into the air depends upon fully functioning joints, pain or not.
