He measured 6'6 barefoot. They always measure without shoes in Europe. So he's probably about 6'7.25 with shoes.

    For comparison,
    Reaves - 6’4.5'' w/o shoes, 6’5.75'' w/ shoes, 6’6.25'' wingspan
    Doncic - 6’6" w/o shoes, 6’7.25'' w/ shoes, 6’11'' wingspan
    Lebron - 6’7.25'' w/o shoes, 6’8.5'' w/ shoes, 7’0.25'' wingspan

I hear you, but last year’s Mavs brought in 2 key role players at the deadline and ended up in the Finals. So yes, typically it’s tough to compete right away after midseason trades, but there are exceptions to the rule. As the team acquiring Luka, I think this at least puts us in the conversation.

IMO we are strong contenders immediately. We have three high IQ guys leading the way. JJ and staff have shown they know how to use the players to get the most out of them. We have some rotations to figure out but that isn't a big deal for a good coach. Past coaching made it seem harder than it is. We will be able to score and be a good defensive team. Again, just my opinion, but I think we are built to be a good playoff team. A championship would not surprise me at all. I mentioned this in another thread, reading Lebron's energy, I think he believes it too.

I'm good with what we have now, roster-wise.

AR, Luka, DFS, Lebron and Williams as probable starters, 6th man bench scorer Rui, Defensive Wing specialist Vando, capable defensive PG Gabe, Shake and Jax Hayes round out the second unit. With any luck maybe we get Wood back from injury as he's played his best ball with Luka and would be a nice addition for the last Center spot. I'm not counting on Kleber returning this season, but maybe Morris can be serviceable in a small reserve roll in the playoffs. He knows how to play.

I'm gonna say it man...I think this team can win it all

Quote me on this when we're beating OKC or Denver in the WCF this year....and then we're in the finals and Luka is gettin his revenge on the C Bags.

I think we’re definitely a dark horse title contender. OKC isn’t unbeatable SGA’s playing style reminds me a lot of Harden I think it could be exposed in the playoffs although he is a great player. They also don’t have great shooting. They are prone to offensive droughts. I’m curious to see how we match up with Denver, but this is also not the same team that swept us a few years ago.

No one is scared of the Nuggets now that we have Luka on our side. You have a guy with a killer instinct that can take over games at any time and with the way our team defense has improved in recent weeks I would like our chances in a 7 game series.

I do not fear OKC at all and we already know LUKA does not fear them judging by how he dismantled them last year in the 2nd round.

I also believe we can finally beat the Nuggets.

In the NBA draft analytics World this is why you’re not drafted, no freakish measurables

3 teams tied with 19 losses --- Nuggets, Rockets, and Lakers. The Grizzlies will implode sooner or later.

My prediction is the Lakers as the 2nd seed.

So nice to see the team effort in his absence

Imagine this team when Luka and RW are healthy

    Watch out NBA

if we played this hard when he was still here/available, we'd have a few more wins, imo. effort was an issue early this season. as it has been for years.

anyway, this is the optimism thread, and if our new brand is playing hard, we're going to be quite good. we have the talent.

feel like that and the eye-popping athleticism are things that have gotten overrated over time. yes, athleticism is a limiting factor for some guys, but if you're big enough and have a high hoop iq and some skill, you can play in this league. even on defense. you can't have a whole team of those guys in the nba, but every guy doesn't need to have a giant wingspan and a 40-inch vertical. there are plenty of those guys sacking groceries, too.

Time to be positive and that's why I bring up the effort

Energy and effort helps to build cohesiveness and that's how championship teams are built

The sum of the parts meld together and the talented players step up and make it work

Also getting everyone involved keeps them focused so it's a team

clearly he was holding us back!

Actually I think Bron is playing at an unsustainable pace lately, and I'm glad we have reinforcements coming. He won't be able to keep up this pace for long before he has a 10 game stretch of meh.

so if part of the reason Dallas let him go was because they didn't want to pay 350+ million for a guy that didn't fully buy into the culture they wanted of effort and defense, how will things be different here? We're trying to get players to buy into the same things here.

Could be interesting around year 2 or so or maybe even moreso after Bron retires.

from my perspective, it looked like dallas was trying to control luka, and he wasn't interested in that.

    we won't do that, imo.

maybe i look dumb later, but i think luka is going to be even better here and people will look back at this moment with the same level of shock that they did when it happened.

this guy is a bad man.

Semi - seriously. The Laker Family (the good aspect not the one getting bagged on constantly ;) ) and the HISTORY every time he looks up at the 17 banners and trophies, retired HOF jerseys and statues out in front.
