This all makes sense to me. I've generally been more pro-Rui than pro-Vando, but Luka has changed every calculation. I'm much more interested now in keeping Vando around than Rui.

I like Rui though, it just seems like the shot attempts are going to be reduced. Scoring is his major attribute, and his salary could land a quality 5. Rui and Shake puts pretty much every decent 5 in reach.

you are right, but like Rob said it's probably worth waiting for the summer instead of rushing to a deal.

For this team and JJ .... now, for all the reasons others have said about the types of mobile athletic centers Luka works so well with, many of whom have like the 250lbs and up bodies to bang with too .... our problem being to land one of them as soon as possible without over paying with our remaining players.

The NBA is hilarious sometimes man, talk about a pointless swap just for the sake of it

Technically it is pointless, but Jusuf is not on speaking terms with the coach, so he had to go.

I’ll see if I can carve out some time soon. Definitely need a complaining to the ref one. He might be the only player who’s worse at That than LeBron

Just couple days ago Nurkic was going to Chicago
Suns – Jalen Smith + Torrey Craig + 2028 2nd (via Sacramento Kings)

Bulls – Jusuf Nurkic + 2025 1st (likely to convey as Cleveland Cavaliers’ 1st)

Smith, who was selected No. 10 overall in 2020, never was able to find his footing originally in Phoenix.

Nurkic can be a solid 15/10 guy in the right setup and still only 30 years old and he also shoots 3s.

probably one of the best options for the Lakers.

If a deal does come to fruition, Valanciunas could be flipped to another team if the Suns are ultimately forced to take him when the dust settles.

yeah, whoever leaked this part is either holding out or doesn't know what the bigger deal is.

curious to see why washington bothers here. to match nurkic's incoming salary, they need to move more than jonas. bagley or a couple of their younger guys (davis/baldwin, etc.). in any case, they're giving up a year of financial flexibility in the process. do they do it just for 2nds?

    what else is happening here?

Jusuf and Luka are good friends, the Balkan connection is real... who knows? He'd be a very good fit, with some injury concerns, obviously. But he's very big, one of the strongest guys in the league, weighs close to 300. Still, he's quite quick, has good hands, can even shoot some. At his best he can do 15/12, but that's not even necessary. His usual 11/11 with physical play and rim protection would be perfect.
