Poeltl for 1 round.Do it yesterday

As soon as the Doncic trade went down, the Raptors took note of the simple fact that the Lakers — who were already thin at centre — are now desperate for a quality big man.

The Raptors have one in Jakob Poeltl, the 29-year-old Austrian who is having one of his best seasons. The Lakers have inquired about him, but the sense is the Raptors are holding out for an offer that would include a first-round pick (likely with a certain level of protection) and the only one the Lakers have left to offer is a 2031 first they’ve been clutching tightly for years. They don't need that pick now

I think if the team gels, they can still make the playoffs and win a first round series depending on the matchup. More than that is asking for a lot though.

Regarding defense, just play Austin starters minutes but have him come off the bench, or start and be pulled after just 4 min, in order to stagger defense.

    Luka/Vando/DFS/LeBron/Hayes is balanced.

Stagger Austin in for Luka or LeBron, add Rui off bench for more scoring, Vincent and Vando are POA, it can work.

Against smaller teams, a lineup of Luka/Austin/Vando/DFS/LeBron could be interesting if the C matchup isn’t too big.

I think I'd start Gabe over Vando. Agreed that we might want Austin coming off the bench now. If Wood ever comes back I'm intrigued by pairing him with Vando.

Well let's remember that a couple of weeks ago we were hearing that we were more likely to make moves around the edges, and then we traded for Luka f***ing Doncic lol. Let's see where we are on Thursday. If there's a trade that makes sense, great. If there isn't, that's okay too.

    New rumors
League sources say the Lakers have had talks with Houston about 31-year-old big man Steven Adams (who is on an expiring deal worth $12.6 million).

I guess the one of the G League guys gets a roster spot to go along with Hayes and Wood.

He's just bad. Gambles and gets lucky sometimes but overall not good.

At this point I might do that as well. So Rui, Wood or Cam and a first?

What spot is that? If we don't get another center and there was a spot, shouldn't it be Koloko?

Rob may be playing poker anyway with that last statement, like to some team that's the final offer take it or leave it?

We clearly don't have an angle at the targets we'd like.

Maybe we will get lucky and someone will hit the buyout market.

especially considering they're suggesting a protected pick. lotto-protected 2031? that's not that high a price.

not sure poeltl is the fit i want, but he can play, and that's a positive.

love steven adams. he's older and coming off the major injury (and playing limited minutes), but i just think he's a guy you want on your team, on and off the court. not sure how to make the trade for him. we can't move gabe for adams at this point, and kleber's salary doesn't match (and he can't be aggregated).

he made several really good moves, imo. then luka, then he trades grimes for martin--which is a downgrade in talent--and ADDS a 2nd to the deal (a decent 2nd, too!). i get that grimes was coming up for a new contract and they were far apart on numbers, but...do you gamble on a former miami player who's looked like s*** outside miami?
