Are you serious? He doesn’t look chunky at all based off that video.

I think Cuban left exactly because of it. It was super weird that he sold when the NBA was going to another level in terms of revenue. He probably started to hear discussions about trading Luka and got out asap.
He's bulky and will always be. I think there's a misconception in the US about fitness. Luka and Jokic were always called fat, but the first played the most minutes in the ENTIRE LEAGUE last year and the other is a MVP 4 years in a row.

Luka is a winner. He's the closest to Kobe in winning mentality I have ever seen. He's not only not afraid of the moment, he wants it. He was leading the best team in Europe at 16 years old, he's used to it. He doesn't have Bron's or Kobe work ethic, but each player has their style, as long as they're making an impact, I'm good. Jokic rides horses in summer and owns the league.

His not a good defender, but Dallas had multiple teams being top defense with different coaches. You just have to build well around him. We'll be contending with Bron but I think the most important iteration for us is what happens after him. We will be going against Wemby/Fox and Shai/J-Dub, both teams with much more assets than us. We need to strike in this build.

In case you live under a rock and didn't know what kind of force we just acquired.

I love how much he hates Clippers and Suns and the fact that he owns Gobert.

Also we have a guy who can go out and get 60 just cause he's mad at you.

    Right.

I've griped multiple times about the moment being too big for guys on this team. Especially against teams like the Clippers and Nuggets. I can handle Jokic going insane and to an extent Murray, but watching guys like Reggie Jackson go all world on us while our guys wilt under pressure was infuriating.

That type of crap should be over for the most part.

Well, let's hope he plays most of the remaining games. Waking up at 3am to watch Gabe is not... great.

My feeling remains is that this is for the long term. I might be more bummed if I truly thought we could win this year, but I don't even though we played a great week.

I was a vocal defender of AD and posted many times about the need for patience with Max but I can't fault the team for making this move. Much prefer it to trying to rebuild through the draft post AD/LeBron which I also think was on the horizon once we lost again this season.

So may not be worth staying up to watch this season if Luka does not play, but I feel good about it being worth staying up to watch in a couple of years.

On the other hand, if Luka does play, suddenly we have arguably the best guy on the floor most nights with LeBron playing beside him. I would not want to face those two regardless of the fit or defensive issues on the other end.

If we secure any kind of big guy, there's a legit chance to finish this season about the same as we would have with AD.

    Unfortunately he stinks. Lol.

I do expect a trade to bring in someone.

If I were JJ, I'd just send Luka tape of all the talking heads trying to justify this for the Mavs. This along with losing a shot at 100 million bucks should be all the motivation he needs.

Luka loved Dallas and i bet he thought he was a Mav for life, then he got traded out of nowhere... and called fat. Let's hope, he likes LA as much as Dallas and finds a true home this time. Imagine Kobe being traded (even after the "Pluto" comments). There would be riots, people would be screaming and crying, i feel bad for their fans.

I do feel kinda bad for Dallas fans losing a 25 year old superstar but they act like they got trash back. AD, Max and a pick isn’t chop liver. I do believe they could have definitely got a lot more picks but AD is in place of those picks.

^ i agree... but on the other hand, thay could get ANY player in the league for Luka (maybe except Wemby and Jokic). We got a golden ticket, no one here could even dream of such a trade.

It’s become obvious that NBA “experts” don’t watch the Lakers. Must be past their bedtime.

Listened to one podcast today where they were shocked the Mavs didn’t get multiple 1st round picks and pick swaps - as if those are valuable coming from a team with Luka that will be in the playoffs every year.

Another reminder that most posters here are more knowledgeable than the so-called experts we get our news from.

Lakers FINALLY have a star player who is CLUTCH. Man, that part has been really hard to replace. God knows how many of those close games the Lakers lost would have been wins had the Lakers had that. So freaking happy right now.
