One of the pallbearers told me that he spent $3,000 to have this casket express shipped overnight. It sounds crazy but also “casually owning a blue casket” also sounds crazy.:ADORLY2:
Relax dude it's just a sport which is entertainment
3000 $ for shipping are you f***ing nuts

Even at my most optimistic, I do not think this team would have won a title this year.

So I don’t really get that argument here. Maybe if we had gotten a guy like Turner but that’s still not a lock and I was never sold he was on the market.

I just don’t think we lost anything from that angle.

Plus, we had ZERO chance at Turner based on what went down with the Paul George stuff.

Oh I might be more worried about Lukas conditioning if we hadn’t just watched the “fat” man lead his team to the finals putting up like 30-8-8.

25 year old true superstar falls in your lap, you take him.

Meh. Then again I may prefer:

    D Lo, AR, Lonzo
    Monk, Hart, Max
    BI, Kuz
    Randle, Nance Jr
    Zubac, JH

We don’t need the fat Hobbit.

    lol.

Fat Luka took a MAvs team to the WCF in 2022 averaging 28/9/9 with a roster that wthout him is a 20 win team. Then Fat Luka went 33/9/9 while leading a more talented Mavs team to the finals.

This trade is also about the future not just the now and its absolutely asinine to look at the trade and complain we didnt get a big back. We gave up 1 pick/christie and AD who in a few years will be useless to us. Now we don't have to worry about post bron/AD and we still have picks/players/salaries to maybe get a big. This trade is a win and in a few year when free agents are lookng at the Lakers, they are not seeing a 35 year old AD but an in prime 29 year old Luka.

One other note. If in 2 years it looks like Luka isn't doing it for us, and his conditioning is an issue, someone will still take a chance on a 27 year old 5 time all-NBA player. We will almost certainly be able to flip him for a lot more than a 34 year old Davis and a pick.

The only way you don't make this deal is if you honestly believe this team had a decent chance at a ring. And without several teams picking up key injuries to specific players all at the same time, I don't see how you can believe this team was a title contender.

The entire league is PISSED, the non-LA media are pissed, that’s how you know we made a good deal

Mavs fans hate this guy now, he’ll probably have to have security guards in public

    just a thought

to me it makes complete sense why dallas didn't put luka on the block first. they wanted a superstar in return and how many other teams are willing to make a trade like that? let alone even have the personnel to make that trade. if they had dangled luka, he would've likely demanded to be traded to a short list of a few teams who probably couldn't have given dallas the return they wanted. the lakers certainly wouldn't have been on that list because luka ends up losing money here

stern's b**** a** would've for sure vetoed this for bAsKeTbAlL rEaSoNs

For those struggling with this like I was in the morning.

If the news broke that Lakers had a chance to trade for Luka for AD and turned it down

How would you be feeling now?

ok, two more thoughts that i haven't spewed already:

    1. i've been a vocal supporter of luka here and think he's basically the best parts of magic and bird put into one player, which is wild. people harp on his defense, but tbh, when he's been healthy, he's been passable there, and his teams have been able to be solid to good defensively. saying all that, i'm VERY concerned about what nico harrison thinks he knows here. i know fans talk about him being fat and lazy or whatever, but this is his employer--whose job is on the line if this goes how everyone thinks. guess we'll all find out, but i just think it can't be based on absolutely nothing. and harrison has made several very good trades in succession, imo. weird that he'd just go absolutely insane one day.

    2. and this is the counterpoint--nico didn't bring luka in. maneuvering in the draft to get luka was a coup--pulled off by previous management. the stuff he's saying is the same reason vlade claimed to pass on luka back in the draft. vlade has lived to look incredibly stupid. anyway, nico himself wasn't involved in getting luka, nor was current ownership, so there's not that investment.

my early verdict is still that this may go down as a real franchise-doomer for dallas, despite my love for AD. it's just the fan reaction and how perfectly everything has to go to get past that...

It’s not just his numbers, it’s that he is a supreme competitor - Kobe black mamba levels. He made Devin Booker cry, he was going at prime Kawhi and PG by himself in the playoffs and almost beating them in his early 20s.

In his WCF run he beat a 49 win Utah with Mitchell, Gobert Bogdanovic and Conley, a 64 win 1st seed Phoenix with Booker, Paul, Bridges and Ayton fresh off a finals appearance and lost to the warriors who went on to win the championship that season with Curry, Green, Klay and Wiggins.

In his finals run last year he beat a 51 win Clippers with Kawhi, PG, Harden, Russ and Powell, beat a 57 win OKC with SGA, Williams and Chet, beat a 56 win Wolves with KAT, Gobert, Edwards and Conley and lost to the eventual champions Boston with their super team Tatum, Brown, KP, Jrue, White and Horford.

I love AD, but Luka is another level.
