the mavs forums are like...suicidal right now. it's pretty sad. fans basically leaving the forums/fandom.

i get it, too. when you have an untouchable, you can't move them unless they want to be moved. you can't guess that they might want to be moved next year. you just went to the freaking finals! you're not going to at least shop around? just so many questions.

sucks for AD, too, because they sort of pre-hate him because he's not luka.

Because common sense tells you that you don't just completely rework a Team dynamic mid season & compete for a Title that year.
I'm all in for a future with Luka & moving on from LeBron, but to think that we can now just add a big man & instantly figure it all out is unrealistic.. We got the best player in this trade, I'm excited about that, but this was 100% clearly a move for the future.
This is not just adding a piece & working it out, this completely changes the Lakers system...

He is out of shape and the Mavericks were smart to onload him before they were forced to give him the Supermax deal

 

All that remains for this year, which is a month old, to blow is for them to trade AR for Capela or some other b*******.

Max is going to be another Eagle, if given a chance, I have no doubt. Luka is going to be 300lb in 2 years.

Well... I guess he'd be easier to trade than 33 yo AD... so there is that.

Of course the Lakers could always make some noise this year. i hope they do... but no one in the FO said "Luka is the piece we need to put this Team over the top this season.."

But what if Luka actually focuses on getting in shape and being the best ?

Unless people in media who have ties to the league are lying, they're saying other GM's would have offered the biggest haul in league history for him.

The reception on this is the reality. We stole Luka from them. This is a "where were you" moment, sports wise. I don't care about this season at all.

With that said, Lakers still have a 1st in their pocket, so they can make another trade. If they can get a relatively decent big, would you want to play them? Luka is as competitive and clutch as they come. Reaves (not sure if he'd be involved) and LeBron are massively efficient. Finney Smith and Vando are awesome defenders. And aside from Jokic which big scares you? Another team could easily bounce them and you may not even have to play Denver.

I don't think this season is totally lost. We had zero, zero chance against OKC before, and we still might not beat them now, but at least we're resetting everything, and still competitive, with a generational talent who hasn't hit his prime yet.

 

I'd like one example of a player, 25 yo and with all the money he could ever want, changing his routine and regimen around to get into shape and remain in that shape for most of his career. Yeah... take your time.

So this all boils down to a very simple thing -- do you believe he can get in shape or not. Because if you don't... we are getting ~60 games per season of fat Luka... and it's going to be awful.

He averages 66 games per season and has alredy missed 20 this season.

I should be excited why, exactly?

P.S. oh, yeah, I hate Luka's style basketball. He is at 32% this season, was 35.5% last season, 36.8% the season before that. Bron is at 29% this season.

He could sit the rest of this season and we could trade him for more.

As of now, at face value, we have a s*** team and an unclear way to improve it in the offseason. Bron's not gonna retire. So we will be s*** next season too.

 

Well the peoples’ job it is to make money and even they don’t know what the final FO move(s) will be clearly don’t agree. And you act like missing those steenking awful lotto years with Luka here now is somehow “bittersweet” reward for exchanging one puncher’s chance for another conceivably better puncher’s chance.

 

LOL. Aint no way we now have better chance to win this season. LOL. I know nothing about sports betting, but it is simply false and must be some sort of speculative odds-setting by the bookies.
