I remember when we got Pau. I was stunned. Pretty much nobody saw that coming. I thought it was too good to be true when I read about it.

Hell: I'm olde enough to remember when we got Kareem. But that was a long time ago. Upper Paleolithic. Different world.

Okay, so correct me if I’m wrong but like, wouldn’t you want to keep Reaves in this situation? I feel like Luka/AR/LeBron is an ideal front court with lots of passes and chances for big scores.

we all agree that now the defense is HURTING. Only thing that makes sense is either another trade or LeBron goes back in time to like 2010-2012 and plays defense again…which MAY be possible.

this trade has Post-LeBron written on it, BUT I feel like Luka balling allows LeBron to stretch more time out of himself. He won’t NEED to score 40. He can score 20-25 and Luka can score 40.

Right now this seems like D’Antoni-PHX vibes, but I have to believe that JJ and crew would force SOMEONE to learn and play Defense.

IF…………Rob can do the trade with Utah for Kessler, but also get something else with him too, then we have a chance to salvage this year. Maybe someone else out there could be a nice permanent Center, but I’m not sure who.

we did good on NYK tonight. So losing AD SUUUUUUCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKS, but the team did play well without him. So something is working in that regard. I just hope we get a good clear imagine soon of this team now that we decided to add Luka to it.

 

Also, I’m still trying to decide if Dallas has a better shot now than OKC to beat Cleveland or Boston or whoever with AD, and I can’t decide.

part of me thinks this is a tie, but part of me really does see that Dallas has a chance now and we have a future that may pay off at times, but the when and where are a mystery right now.

 

AD's defense. Max's defense. Gone.

Did we replace that defensive skill. Naw, man. Not even close.

However: D F-S, Vando and Gabe still playing good/great D. That's the kinda thing that get me going. A Top 5 Defensive team. We just took a few steps away from that by dealin' AD and Max.

Just when we were starting to look like a legit #4 or #5 team in the West, it's as if Pelinka punted on this season. I don't expect much from us this season. The last 35 games or so. Do you?

I mean: Luka will probably be a Laker from here on out. He just has to stay healthy and get in shape. It's going to be thrilling. But where is the defense now?

 

How many of you were like me in hearing the initial news: our defense just took a huge hit...and I tried to picture Luka on a treadmill, sweating away all that FAT.

(We now know exercise doesn't really help you lose weight: eating less does. But still. Dude's been outta shape for a long time now and it was seriously hurting his performance, esp with the injuries. It's a huge - pun intended, I guess - concern, is it not?)

It's gonna take me a long time to get over this trade.

 

I’d rather not trade Reaves if I can help it. But LeBron has this season and next left to contend before he is late stage Kobe. And then we need to find a running mate for Luka. All up that’s 3-4 year time horizon.

The other problem now with Reaves is there is only one ball. And there are two heliocentric superstars on the team. Reaves is the odd man out. He either becomes a defensive stalwart (doesn’t have the physical tools), becomes a 40% high volume 3pt shooter than can create as well (this makes him an all star and I’m sure he is trying but it’s not so easy), he goes to the bench and becomes our 6th man (the likely option) or we trade him for a position of need in the form of a center or POA defender (second most likely).

JSM’s offer is probably where I go to as well with Utah - take the protections off, one additional first, Knecht and a second or two.

 

Could you imagine the uproar. I’d personally love it, Bam is a good defender and can play 5 out.

We need a big first and foremost. A quality big. Luka works better with a lob threat 5, than a stretch...Capela might be the move now..I'd immediately try to flip him to
Indiana myself.

 

Capela is washed. I'd take Nurkic over him and seems the Suns are actively trying to move him so we could even maybe get a first round pick if we brought him in.
