Get Robert Williams and be done with this. Great fit with AD defensively.

Who goes out though? Rui makes a bit more. I could see PDX wanting him - Gonzaga kid.

I feel that there is posturing going on, and also I feel that LAL don't really want to get another big, but are willing to do it in order to make AD happy. With that said, Robert Williams only requires about 20 minutes per game. Much like Vando, he provides a lot in a short time frame. Probably could split his minutes with Vando 50/50 or something like that. Alo, Lakers wouldn't be too upset if Williams goes down with injury, They could tell aD "we tried" LOL. Unfortunately, we would be going 35 minutes or so per game with two non-shooting bigs, but the defense would be dynamic, which goes with the identity we are trying to create. I would try to get at least on more 3 and D guard though. Not sure if we like Thybulle or Banton, maybe we take a look. Or in a different deal.

I agree I think Hayes has been pretty effective when he's been healthy.
Problem is he's useless against dudes with junk in their trunks like Zubac and Jokic - just gets pushed around way too easily

Maybe this opens the door for Sharpe - more of a marginal guy but the combo of Hayes and Sharpe could be more viable??

What a weird turnaround that would be for this team: could go from a team with high octane offense to a team frighteningly good on defense with no offensive juice.
I mean who isn't excited to see the obvious 20th century version of the Purple People Eaters lineup of Williams, AD, DF, Thybulle, Vando in action if that trade happens.

I wonder if we've been trying to get the Bulls to take Vando for Vuc this whole time, rather than Rui.

rui is shooting 41% from 3 this season. i wouldn't even think about trading him considering how bad this team is at shooting 3s

Yeah about the not enough mass down low. My thinking though is if traded to a team that does have that heavyweight center already in their rotation, but another one not as good, like Portland with their rookie Clingan and Ayton now and R. Williams maybe available for not too much, or some other team like that, who doesn't have a center like Hayes to change things up, maybe he would have a little value at least besides only his salary.

I thought they'd find a reason to keep suspending him until they move him. Don't think he'll play for them again.

You greedy bastard. You're not getting both firsts.

DK, one first and the protections removed. That is more than fair value.

I'm telling you, Ainge is not going to cave. He doesn't need to. I'm pretty much out on Kessler unless Ainge drops the price.

A few things on the Laker pods over the weekend...

-Irwin was asked to give odds on the C prospects. Vuc was in the lead with 40 something%, Jonas was second also with a slightly lower 40 something%. The field took up the remaining 10-15%

-Buha said IF Turner is available, he thinks (not sourced) the cost would be a first and another asset (1st, swap, or prospect... so DK). *Rui required for salary.
I think it'll be pricier than that, I'd love to be wrong though.

-Lane mentioned an interesting idea. If we shed a little over $7m in a trade, we can be players in the buyout market. I played around on the machines until I found the most realistic scenario there and i did this:
Rui, DK, Wood for Turner [doesn't have to be Turner but he's the flavor of the week]
JHS, Jax, two 2nds to DET for a fake 2nd

If you give up DK, you make them eat another salary, being an expiring one they shouldn't kick and scream too much. Then I know a lot of teams are eyeing DET as a dumping ground at the deadline, I'd just be hoping to be first in line.

I'd want actionable Intel that the Brown buyout rumors aren't BS or that someone else worthwhile is shaking loose. But there's a (unlikely) path to that option.

I wish Handy was still here, so we could get some better leaks.

Ainge’s MO is to win trades. He’ll hold out for us taking off the protection on the pick he already owes, plus two additional firsts and he’ll ask for Reaves or Knecht. And if we don’t budge, he still has Kessler for next offseason or deadline 2026.

I just don’t think that trade is there unless we overpay. I’m not really interested in that kind of move.

Is it crazy that I’d take Vuc if we could get Lonzo as a throw in? If he can stay healthy I think he is an excellent piece as a 3&D guard. He can shoot, defend and play make. I think bulls are going to be sellers before the deadline.
