I'd rather have Middleton than Beal, if I'm Milwaukee. I thought Miami was one of Dame's preferred destinations, before he got traded.

Grant has been awful this year: no thanks. Rather just roll the dice with Vando coming back

so reaves would now be our only ballhandling guard?

i'm out for many reasons, tbh.

rui/jhs/one of our vet mins for williams/thybulle works. i'd throw in our two 2025 seconds OR a lotto-protected 2026 swap (unlikely to convey, but sounds like a first rounder?).

A couple of days ago the new report was Blazers dropped the ask for Williams down to 2nds.

Lakers on the phone? Make that at least 1 first.

I’m not defending our FO - especially ownership which is the root of the problem - but most NBA franchises are so poorly run with delusion, it’s laughable.

    Also...

He's learned too many bad habits in DC.

If you could get him for expirings + 2 2nds, I'd do it but I'm not committing real assets and we don't have expirings that size.

overall, is he actually better than rui? because we'd have to give up rui+ to get him. does washington want rui back after they sorta dumped him to us in the first place?

what role would kuz play here, exactly? same issue as before with fit, imo.

Well he's a higher volume 3 pt shooter and better rebounder than Rui, I give him that. But with that said, I still wouldn't want him. His 3 accuracy is too low and he is not a good defender. This is provably more of a smokescreen for us if anything, I hope so anyway.

Gambling on Zo scares the s*** out of me. I've said I'm all for taking a shot on him this summer as a buy low FA with a second year TO, but trading anything for him given that he could barely walk not even 9 months ago... doesn't get much riskier. Because it's not just the 1 or 2 2nds for an expiring Zo, it's the players that's leaving the building to get to that $21m

Maybe they can sweeten it with one of their young guys who haven't popped yet. Duarte has Rob proclamation project written all over him, though I'd hope for a better young'n on their roster.

Zo fits in seamlessly. But his health. I feel your sentiment completely, but man his skillet is intriguing.

zo makes sense if you need a backup PG if you're moving Gabe. Otherwise what's the point? He doesn't really resolve the need for another scorer and a true C

Agree w/this and think Gabe getting moved is possible in the right scenario.

i'm not sure ball is any bigger risk than robert williams, whom most seem happy to pursue.

anyway, listen to that list: ball, sexton, brogdon. yipes. and for some reason the bloggers have gotten upset the past couple days because it sounds like we might not make any more moves. not exactly overwhelming stuff out there right now.

i keep hearing bruce brown, but has anyone watched him play since he left denver? he's been pretty bad, tbh. and this is even considering that he was actually pretty overrated on denver, too. i mean, westbrook looks playable there. jokic makes everyone look good.

the list of players that really interest me and seem even remotely possible as trade targets is short.

Brown is like DFS. He's a system player who plays better as the 5th guy who does all the little things. They're not stats guys. He's high motor, guards, rebounds, dives on the floor, sets screens and is constantly active, which is great for stars playing alongside him, especially guys like Bron that tend to save energy

    separate idea:

who says no to jhs/wood/2025 2nd rounder for davion mitchell?

toronto plays him, but he's up for a new contract this summer, and they have quickly ahead of him and shead as another developmental guard. jhs gives them a look at another guard at a lower short-term cost.

we get a guy who, in theory, can defend (it hasn't been that way in practice yet) at the point of attack.

I think he is because while Zo was out there was legit quality of a normal life concerns with him (see Ramona's December article) vs an often injured Williams. That's a whole other tier of injury concerns.

Plus $12m is a lot more palatable than $21m. For Zo, Rui or Vando has to go out. Whereas for Williams you can get there with Gabe + any min. Sure that opens up a roster issue at backup pg but talent wise, but it's a very different conversion.

He's put together consecutive ones looking like who he was. But mainly:
Agreed. He's a guy that looks better on better teams, next to better players. On tankers the effort is pointless (Tor). On elevated roles, it's not what he's good at (Indy).

If the medicals check out, he's the second best player for what we need (Kessler at 1, who might not even be a fantasy option). Dirty work player who has some dog in him. Can defend up or down, be your low usage/high impact 5th starter or 6th man. Can handle the ball a bit.
