the guy between those two extremes that is the actual player? iow: vando is what he is, an excellent role player if available. ...and i've become extremely skeptical of his availability. i think he's just a guy whose body won't let him play the way he needs to play to be effective. extremely poor man's AD.
I wouldn't be taking chances on two a days with this guy no matter how positive I was feeling unless one session was in the pool or something. That can't be right.
Having a 6’8, 214 pound guy play the small ball 5 after coming off major feet surgery makes no sense. He’s not a vertical threat defensively. His calling card is perimeter defense. Either he can do it or he can’t.
It’s okay, because our medical staff says that getting pounded in the post by guys who are much larger is the best way to ease your broken body back into shape. As I was typing that, I was just reminded of my favorite Shaq/Charles moment when Diesel loses it while Barkley is describing Draymond and Joker “banging in the post.”
Vanderbilt coming back makes the Finney-Smith trade more impactful. Those two are defensive compliments to each other. Finney-Smith excels on D, 15 feet in, Vanderbilt's biggest impact is on the perimeter. This is the next step up. If Wood is on target to return, he brings some of the lost offense we'd have, from moving Rui for a big. The outline for playoffs success is coming together. Fingers crossed on the health front, but we are one move away from being a legit contender IMO. https://www.silverscreenandroll.com...ts-foot-sprain-return-date-timeline-south-bay
Finally some positive progress here. Need him to get out there and maybe after 5 games or so, we can get a glimpse of what this team can be with him and how that will impact our next move before February rolls around.
